YAY!! my problem now? well how can i actually save those files? i dont have a floppy disk on my computer. and i only have one cd drive and it's the one i'm using for the boot disk. your help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance for any advice. sandra

You can either upload it on net for storage. or use a USB drive or Connect a LAN network and transfer it to any other computer of yours.

BIOS can not boot

It sounds like the boot partition for your o/s is corrupt or missing a file.

The first thing I would rule out is a problem with the settings for your bios.So boot the PC on, as soon as you start seeing text press (Esc, Del, F10, F8) usually one of those buttons to access your bios options.

Once you are in the bios options page, Select the Exit Tab, In it should be a "Restore Defaults" option, select it.

After restoring the default settings select "Save Changes and Exit".

See if that helps you get past the boot screen. Post back with the results so I may be able to assist you further.

How can I perform a system restore?

You have the option of using the help menu off your start menu, using the built in system restore on you windows operating system and going back to a time before you were having any problems. This is the easiest way to do a system restore. Using your CD will generally make changes on your hard drive, including doing a full format.

I hope that you have found this information helpful. If you do find it helpful, please leave positive feedback for me.

Thank You,

I have a gateway comp 500se i purchased in 2002 and everytime i want to format my disks have problems im needing the driver cd and the operating systems cd without having to purchase another one since this...

You should be able to download the drivers from the site if you enter your serial number. The OS is another're supposed to save those cds in a safe place..
Here's a guide to the reformat, though that won't help if you don't have the cds.
If you're having problems with malware, I recommend these removal protocols. They may just save you a reformat...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Bios no option to Boot from usb Cd rom broken

Floppy works right? So you need to boot from floppy disk, install USB drivers in DOS and then access an external USB device... whew. OK, so getting a dos 6.22 boot disk is easy, then you have to load a DOS-level USB device driver that 'recognizes the chipset in your USB controller/port and can turn it 'ON'

Go here and READ ;-) They have everything you need (except for my expert help)

Good luck!
P.S. There are many DOS-level drivers out there, if you don't find one for your PC, make a noise and I'll see if I can help

Yes, that is a major factor. Because the files arent actually kept on the desktop, so when you boot it, the machine has to" remember" where that content is actually stored. You should also defrag the hard drive with DISK UTILTIY.

You can also check the space left on the drive. It should state at the bottom of the window when that volume is selected. Or you can also click on it once and hit the apple and "I" key..

APPLE+ I also know as "get info" from the top file menu. If you do a considerable amount of downloading, or if you have a massive itunes folder and you are saving that to your internal drive and not an external, you operating system has to weed through all that information. If youre getting spinning beach balll as well, I'd recommend install more RAM modules.

Hope this helps, keep me posted.
