In many of the refrigerators, the waterline goes from the bottom of the fridge up thru the freezer door hinge (there's a hole for it). It feeds up and comes out at the water dispenser. Replacing the one in my Whirlpool (they make many other brands, also) was simple, taking about 20 minutes my first time. You don't need to order the repair kit (tubing and connector) that costs about $55. It's all standard parts you can get at any hardware store.

After removing the tubing, take a piece to the store to get the same size. I bought the additional connector for $3, but didn't need it because the old one worked fine. The original tubing was about 4 ft. and I replaced it with a 6 ft. section ($1.20), with the extra tucked under the fridge, so if / when it happens again, I can just pull thru from the extra. NOTE: my tube broke at the water dispenser outlet on the door. I read somewhere that it may be caused by the door light being left on continuously. Because it is close to the tubing, the heat from the bulb, over a few years, may have caused the tube to become brittle. TIP: if, when pushing the tube up thru the door, it gets caught before it comes out the water dispenser opening, you might want to cut the leading edge of the tip at an angle that may help it make the needed bend(s) going thru the door.

Here is the video showing how to replace the waterline.

Water lines inside doors are typically not serviceable as the insulation is "foam in place". Pulling apart the door and reassembling will be next to impossible. Generally the door would need to be replaced.

WATER WILL NOT FLOW

My water dispensor INSIDE the door froze up.
I payed a repair guy $75 to use MY BLOWDRYER to "thaw" the frozen water line INSIDE the freezer door (below the water dispenser).

He said anytime the frozen food extends over the freezer shelf and touches the freezer door for a long enough period of time, the water line inside the door FREEZES!!

PREVENTION: "Keep some airspace between the door and frozen food."

I have replaced the water filter inside the unit but not it will not despence water.

It is very common on these units for the water line to freeze inside the freezer door. They did not insulate the door well enough. there was actually a recall on many models where they actually replaced the entire door under warranty. To determine this you need to remove the bottom kick panel and there will be a quick disconnect at the bottom of the freezer door. (to remove you need to kind of push the line in and then pull back out) Once this is disconnected close the freezer door and try to call for water. If you get water coming through the line to this point then you know its frozen inside the door. The only fix for this is to shut the unit down for 24 hrs with the door open to let the line thaw back out. If you dont have water to this point you will need to look at your saddle valve where the water line is tapped into your main line. It may be clogged up with calcium deposits. If you have an icemaker and its making full sized cubes this will most likely mean the issue is not with your water supply. Also if your dispenser has a little switch that slides back and forth to go from crushed/cubed/water it is common for these switches to go bad. Hope this helps let me know what you find.

My frost free freezer is icing up on the bottom of the freezer. Occasionally find water on floor No

If the ice is clear and frozen on the floor of the freezer the defrost drain line may be plugged causing the water to over flow the
drain trough and leak into the bottom frezer compartment.

This will require a service tech. to remove the rear panel inside the freezer and find the reason for the blockage of the drain line.
ie....
Mold or slime in drain line
Debirs covering the drain inlet hole
Out of spec defrost heater.

If the ice is fluffly like snow then the freezer door may not be sealing properaly.
With the freezer door closed check the door gasket all the way around the freezer door.
If a gap is seen on one side the freezer door may be misaligned.
To realign freezer door remove all ice with a hair dryer.
Soak up all moisture on the metal rails and inside the freezer.
Pull freezer door all the way out unitll it stops serveral times.
This may realign the freezer door.
If not the door slide rails,Track or Roller gears may need to be replaced.

What do I need to check to see why my water dispenser is not working on my refrigerator?

Remove the bottom kickplate . Follow the water line , from the bottom of the freezer door , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring , and pull out on the line , at the same time . Close the freezer door , and push in the dispensor pad for water . If water flows from the tube under the refrig , then the water line inside the door is frozen . You can either turn the freezer temp up slightly , for several days , or use an air tank , to blow out the frozen ice from the line ( I have read ) . There is a heater available to keep this problem from happening , pt. # WR49X10173 .
If water does not flow from the line , you need to replace the dual water inlet valve , behind the refrig , the piece that the wall water line connects to , pt. # WR57X10051 .

Water dispenser line leaking at bottom of freezer door hinge, line broken, do i need to remove the inside door panel of freezer door to replace it?

if you have enough room left you can just cut out the hole and go to any hardware store and pick up a water line coupler and repair it....if it is too short or broke up inside the door then you need to remove the water/ice dispenser and pull the line through and run the new one down the track.

Water supply line

If you want to replace just the water line going inside the door, you are out of luck. The water line is foamed in place inside the door and is not replaceable without replacing the entire freezer door. If you want to just remove the door, the water line disconnects by pushing the collar on the insta-push fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling on the tube, all of which is located behind the toe kick plate near the bottom hinge of the freezer door. The same door is used on the PSS26MRSASS, PSS26MRSCSS, PSS26MRSDSS, and the PSS26MRSESS. It is part # WR78X11742 and runs about $500. (note: even if you don't like what you just read, accurate info on your repair question deserves a "FixYa" rating, not just a "helpful" or "tanks for trying".)
