SOURCE: how do I change the orifice on my kenmore dryer

More and more, you have to change the gas valve AND the orifice due to the liability issue of changing only the orifice and not doing a complete conversion. If, and this might be a big if, a conversion kit is available, you will need the model # of your dryer to order it. The kit will come with a spring and a tension nut for the gas valve and the orifice you need. Instructions will come with the kit. Follow them to the letter. An improperly installed conversion kit, or just changing the orifice, can be very dangerous. LP operates at a higher pressure than the natural gas the dryer was built to use, and an improper conversion presents a significant fire hazard.

Some Brinkman grills have the LP orifice installed on the NG orifice directly from the factory.
If that is true, you remove the LP orifice and the NG orifice is already there. Check instructions in the conversion kit and look for this detail carefully. I just did a Brinkman conversion and instructions were very confusing. The orifices in the kit are not used (on my unit).

DLG5966G will not get hot. Vents have been cleaned and replaced with newer shorter ones. The heating mechanism sensor has been wiped clean...what could be causing it not to heat?

check if the igniter is glowing at all upon startup. you will need to partially disassemble dryer to check. if the igniter doesnt glow, then check the safety t-stat on flame tube body. it has a reset button on it. beyond that, it could be a gas valve problem, igniter itself; circuit board, etc..etc.

How do i convert from natural gas to LP or Propane?

You need the LP gas conversion kit: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-lp-gas-con-item-number-ap4300853.aspx . Other sources may exist. This includes a replacement orifice and a spring and the installation instructions. The orifices are swapped with a small wrench. The spring fits inside the regulator inside the blocking plug.

You will also need to remove the cap from the regulator and turn it over. This makes the regulator compatible with LP gas. It's easy to tell which side is which - each side is labeled.

However, the conversion kit should be installed by a professional trained for the job. Your local LP dealer should be able to help you find a repair person with the skill. (Improper installation could result in a gas leak.)

I hope this helps.

What is the BTU rating of the dryer. If you open the dryer door, it is listed on the dryer behind the door. Most are 20,000 or 22,000 btu. The orifice # should either br 54 or 55 if it's LP.

Natural gas to propane conversion LG dryer

You posted under a combo washer / dryer WD-4343RHD.
For a gas dryer, conversion is to replace Nat gas orifice with LP one (the LP orifice has a air hole going cross ways through it) plus screwing the regulator blocker (brass slot head screw on top of the gas valve) all the way down (if you missed that step, I would expect your symptoms). Also, make sure you have a good vent with strong air flow at the outdoor outlet. If poor vent, short cycling may occur.

Lg dryer - gas

If you do not have the original orifice you will have to order a natural gas orifice and replace the LP one with it. It is just a small brass threaded part with the correct size hole in it, located right at the end of the burner. For a LG dryer it is probably part number 4948EL4001B but you should get your model number from the sticker just inside the door and order the correct part from your nearest servicing dealer. You can find LG servicer's in the US on line at http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp
