A rigid puddy knife needs to be inserted approx 2-4" in from each corner where the top seam is across the front, while pressing and releasing the hidden spring clip lift the corner of the top and repeat for the other side.

Acts like it wants to turn but it wont turn. Checked the belt. And its fine. If u turn the barrel manually it will sometimes start after..SO idk what the problem is. or how to even get the top of the dryer...

The belt is stretched out of its original shape. You will need to replace the belt along with the idler pulley. Sears has these parts in a kit form with instructions. The rear section were the top attaches to has a screw with a hinged metal peice which needs to be removed from each side of the back. Tiilt the top towards the front and pry up on the two front corners to remove the top. Then the front panel is removed undoing the sheet metal screws. The drum slides out and now you can access the belt and idler pulley. That a picture of it before removing the pulley with the belt on for reference

How do i change the heating element on a Amana electric dryer is there a diagram or drawing also

you will need to take the front panel off, there are screws inside the dryer door, may be two on each bottom corner, and with a screwdriver gently pry up on the top corners as they are clipped in. Then you will have to unhook the door switch. remove the front panel you will need to look at the back top of dryer and make sure there are no screws that are holding the top down, lift up on top of the dryer and it will rest in the up position on the two brackets, the coil is located in the back right hind side an will look like a extended spring. You might want to remove the back upper plate of the dryer as there is usually a diagram in there, of course remember to unplug dryer before working on it. Hope this helps tim

Disconnect dryer from the power source before servicing!
In assuming that you already have the front removed, you can raise the top by removing 2-5/16" screws located in each front corner that secure the top to the side panels. Then remove th 4-5/16" screws from the bulkhead that secures it to each side panel. Then use the diagram above on installing the belt properly.

Let me know if you need any more information.
