Question about Whirlpool Dishwasher. Front Control Dishwasher in White WDF510PAYW
My dishwasher was working fine but now it stops during the cycle (about 45 minutes) and all light on the panel go off. The bottom of the tub has water in it but can not be drained because none of the buttons work including the cancel/drain buttom. After a few hours the cancel drain button can be pressed and it will drain. After many hours the dishwasher can cycles can be set (lights on) and the cylce can be started again...only to stop again after about 45 minutes.

SOURCE: dishwasher won't start
jamcdani Most likely the problem with your dish washer is bad key pad. It is not repairable and has to be replaced. Whirlpool does not sell it separate and you have to by the whole console assembly. The price range is between $95 and $115 (different colors) and it is not very complicated to replace it. I can help you with the complete step by step instructions and, if you provide the complete model number of your dish washer, I get the part number and the best price for you. Gendos post back...

It sounds like the thermal fuse in the control console has blown.
Turn power off to unit.
Remove the outer door panel and then the console.
Remove the black plastic cover from over the circuit board if it has one.
You should see the thermal fuse clipped to the circuit board housing.
If you have an ohm meter, check for continuity across it, it should read closed.
If you don't have a meter, unplug the wires from it and and hook them together.
Turn power back on to unit, hold door switches down and cancel cycle. The washer should drain the water.
If this doesn't work, check your door switches to make sure they are closing properly.

sounds like the fuse on the control blew. you can replace the fuse for around $20 or you can cut and splice the wires for free. If that doesnt work then you may have a loose conection in your junction box under the dishwasher.

SOURCE: 'clean' light flashes
Press the normal wash then heated dry buttons in the same sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the cancel button. It will clear any existing faults and makes the dishwasher to operate normally.
To prevent the issue from recurring, run your hot water faucet first to ensure that hot water is present in the entire supply line before starting the filling.
