The floppy disc drive doesn't show under "computer" in the left hand column, but I've found that by clicking on "computer" it's listed in the main window. From the "Microsoft Community"

SOURCE: Sata Hard Drive can't detect by window xp installation

Loading Windows XP on a SATA drive Just in case anyone else has this problem and doesn't want to spend an hour figuring it out...
If you are loading Windows XP onto a computer with a serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, you will have to manually load the SATA drivers.
As suggested you need to put the drivers on a floppy disk.
Copy the drivers from motherboard support CD *\DriverDisk\SATA\*.* into root directory of floppy disk. (i.e. root directory of floppy disk should contain \pide and \sata folders, txtsetup.oem, etc. files.)
Then, boot system by Windows XP installation CD, when the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" shows up, press "F6". Then, press "S" to specify additional device when next screen pops up. Put the driver floppy disk you made in and press enter to continue. If the floppy disk is made successfully, the installation program will ask for selecting driver. Please then select "VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller(Windows XP)".) After SATA driver loaded and Windows XP can recognize the SATA HDD, you can continue to install Windows XP as usual.
This should work fine if you have the drivers on a CD somewhere.
Here's what not to do:
1) Pull floppy drive from another computer
2) Get lazy and not install the floppy, simply hang it by cables on the side of computer
3) After using floppy, allow the exposed circuitboard to touch the case
4) Watch smoke come from the floppy drive since the power was shorted out
5) Toss floppy drive in the trash

Please don't forget to rate me SOLVED if you satisfied my solution.

Best regards,

Philip

SOURCE: Acomdata no longer recognized

Hey Cella, I had the same problem, the LED flashes blue and red and it isn't recognized by the computer.

In my case, I had two of these drives connected to my desktop, one was still working while the other wasn't recognized. I swapped the power supply/ power cords that were connected and voila, it's recognized, all data is still there, no corruption or missing files.

In your case, you can try and contact acomdata and see if they can ship you a replacement or you may have to purchase the power supply.

Hope this helps. Worked for me, should work for you.

SOURCE: USB Hard Drive - Won't recognize

this problem depends on your OS, or if that is a really bad pendrive,
if you have windows 9x most of the times you must use that pendrive as a normal hard drive.. with this i mean you have to plug it in, and then start your pc, and to take it out you must turn off the pc..
if its a really bad pendrive, installing the drivers will help, but because those thingies are really lame, they will get busted really fast.
but you can be sure that your USB entrances in your PC are fine because they are recognizing something is in, so the problem is the Operating System, either being too old or lack of drivers.

by the way.. is it a KINGSTON? or a kingbyte?

Sabrent external floppy reader is asking me to format my floppy disk. how can a format it without deleting my files on floppy disk?

Your floppy disk drive may be defective. Also, Some floppy drives are manufactured differently. Your best bet is to find another floppy drive to read your floppy disk. You can try to take it to the nearest computer store and ask them to read it for you. If they can read it at the computer store? The Sabrent drive you received if bad. If they cannot read it the floppy is bad. If the floppy is bad you can try to download free data recovery software to attempt to recover your data, files etc. Good luck

Try to use the windows 8 generic floppy drive driver. Legacy hardware is difficult to make work. You might want to see if you can download and install multiple drivers for similar floppy drives and see if one of them works.

Only some computers have the port to plug in the floppy cable. If you do plug in one or two floppy drives into the cable and plug in the little power cables (many modern powers supplies don't have those either) I have some adapter plugs that can go to a floppy drive. Your computer will assign which drive is A and which is B

Unfortunately windows 7 was not designed to consider external floppy drivers, it was developed to handle the more current items that people use. Unless the disk manager can be modified to work with the new window system you may need to use a flash drive to solve the problem.

I just bought a used Designer 1 with Customizing Software. The customizing program recognizes the a:Floppy external drive to receive designs. When I try opening the Disk Manager so I can download them,...

Don't insert the floppy disk in the drive until you are ready to actually do the writing to disk. If it still won't recognize that there is a design disk there, try re-formatting using disk manager - you will lose whatever designs are already on the disk, so make sure to save them to your hard drive using Windows Explorer first.
You might just need updated drivers for your floppy drive. Try an internet search by searching for Husqvarna Customizing drivers, or something like that.
