From p.10 of the manual
"Check fuel level, fill as required. Make sure generator is turned off and has been allowed time to cool down. Use clean, fresh, regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane. Do not mix oil with gasoline".

SOURCE: I have a porter cable 5250 generator that bounces off the governo

there 2 linkages that conect that would be the problem. you have on conected to the throttle switch that runs to the govener than on that govener os another linkage hooks up to it and runs to the carborator that ajusts the flow. if you don't have both linkages than you need to order 1.

SOURCE: what type of oil do

Your generators take ordinary 10W30 motor oil.
We use these things on the job.
Don't turn engine upside down or on its side to drain oil, or oil will run into carburetor

When I spray starting fluid in carb it starts but won't stay running

It is not getting gas. Check there is gas in the tank, the fuel tap is working and the float in the carburettor isn't stuck.

I have a portercable 5250 generator works great starts great shutts down after about half hour maybe 20 percent load oil good disconnected oil switch, changed feul, carb seems good, bowl clean still...

Seems that you have covered all the bases. The problem that you describe could be related to fuel lock or restriction in the fuel delivery system. Easy to check. Remove the air filter and have carb cleaner ready. If you are near the gen when it begins to quit, spray just a little carb cleaner to see if engine tries to run. If engine begins to run or continues to run with carb cleaner, then suspect fuel delivery problem. If the engine seems to stop quicker with carb cleaner, suspect flooding caused by too much fuel pressure (fuel pushed past the needle due to pressure in the tank; open fuel cap and listen for air pressure release). Fuel delivery problems are caused by collapsed fuel line, restriction in the fuel cut-off valve, restriction at the fuel filter (use larger automotive type), negative pressure in tank caused by no vent at cap. Rare problem with fuel delivery is caused by sudden heat rise at the carb causing fuel to boil out of carb. This is caused by the engine running very hot, lack of air across cooling ribs caused by debris or fan missing blades. You can eliminate the complete fuel delivery system by mounting a small fuel tank on a stand and running fuel line directly to the carb for test. The tank needs to be higher than the carb so that you will have good gravity feed. Good luck

THE VOLTAGE COMING FROM THE GENERATOR IS NOT RIGHT. iT WILL BLOW A LIGHT BULB INSTANTLY

Connect a voltage meter to the 115v plug and measure voltage. If too high, adjust governor spring tension to compensate. Your engine developes max horsepower at about 3600 rpm. At this speed the generator should be producting 115v at 60 cycles. Good holidays

My porter cable generator 3000 wt will not stay running once star

Hi,
If this generator has been stored for any length of time with fuel in the carb you probably have a plugged main jet in the carb. As joboo1 says there are a few other things that could cause this behavior, but most often I see dirty carbs, water in the fuel, and plugged/dirty air filters. Get a flashlight and look into the fuel tank thru the filler hole, if you see anything floating in there you've got water in the fuel. Look at the ari cleaner, oil and fuel on the element indicate a dirty carb. Of course check the oil level. Lastly, take the bowl off the bottom of the carb (shut off the fuel valve first), if you see debris in there the carb needs a good cleaning.

Regards,
Carl
