Asus motherboard? You don't have to worry about updating the bios at all, asus has a program you can download, press a few buttons and it updates the bios for you.

the other expert must be unaware of this and wrote basic instructions on how to flash a bios in dos or similiar.

Read this page
http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments_content.aspx?no=714

you can update the bios from the internet.

let me know if you have any questions, the bios update is really simple and easy this way.

Thanks,
Ekse

    I had the Asus M2n-Sli board myself, now its on another machine and I remember I used the asus update program to update the bios with no problems.

    let me know how it goes.

  • Ekse Jun 21, 2009

    Yes that is right, and yes the motherboard is supported it may not be on the list there as the page may be old, the update utility should be also on the driver cd that came with the motherboard.

    get it either from your cd or from here
    http://support.asus.com/download/downloa...

    enter motherboard, series (socket Am2), and model(m2n-sli deluxe) then click search
    select windows version from drop down list

    then open utilies by pressing on the + next to it, on the list you see Asus update.
    it would not be listed there if it wasn't supported.

    download the program, install and run it.

    check if it finds a update for itself.

    then continue to update the bios from the internet. If one file server doesn't work try the next one on the list.

    I can do it over remote support for you, if you have problems.

    Thanks.
    Ekse

Turn off pc and then open up your case and you will find a battery pull out for about 10 seconds and replace, so the cmos is back to default, reboot set your bios back to what was your setting before clearing the cmos and reboot again. if that fails use another computer to download the bios rom onto a floppy disk and reflash the bios

    Using ASUS EZ Flash Utility:

    The ASUS EZ Flash feature allows you to update the BIOS without having
    to go through the long process of booting from a floppy disk and using
    a DOS-based utility. The EZ Flash utility is built-in the BIOS chip so
    it is accessible by pressing + during the
    Power-On-Self-Test (POST).

    To update the BIOS using EZ Flash:

    Visit the ASUS website (www.asus.com) to download the latest BIOS file for the motherboard.

    Save the BIOS file to a floppy disk or a USB flash disk, then restart the system.

    You can launch the EZ flash by 2 methods:

    1) Insert eh floppy disk/USB flash disk that contains the BIOS file to the floppy disk drive or the USB port.

    Press + during POST to display the EZ Flash utility

    or

    2) Enter BIOS setup program. Go to the TOOLS menu to select EZ Flash2 and press to enable it

    You can switch between drives by pressing before the correct file is found. Then press

    When the correct BIOS file is found, EZ Flash performs the BIOS update process and automatically reboots the system when done

    Using ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 utility:

    The ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 is an auto recovery tool that allows you to
    restore the BIOS file when it fails or gets corrupted during the
    updating process. You can update a corrupted BIOS file using the
    motherboard support DVD, the floppy disk or the USB flash disk that
    contains the updated BIOS file.

    *Prepare the motherboard support DVD, the floppy disk or the USB flash
    disk containing the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility

    *If your display receives no signal during the BIOS updating process,
    the system will beep when it is searching for a device that contains
    the BIOS file. The beep stops when such device is found and the
    updating process begins. You will hear four beeps when the updating
    process is completed, and the display will return after the system
    reboots

    Recovering the BIOS from the support DVD:

    1) Turn on the system

    2) Insert the motherboard support DVD tot he optical drive

    3) The utility displays the following message and automatically checks the DVD for the BIOS file

    Code:
    Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS recovery...
    Checking for floppy...
    When found, the utility reads the BIOS file and starts flashing the corrupted BIOS file.

    Code:
    Bad BIOS cheksum. Starting BIOS recovery...
    Checking for floppy...
    Floppy found!
    Reading file "M2N-E.ROM". Completed.
    Start flashing...

    4) Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process

    To recover the BIOS from the USB flash disk:

    1) Insert the USB flash disk that contains BIOS file to the USB port

    2) Turn on the system

    3) The utility will automatically check the device for the BIOS file.
    When found, the utility reads the BIOS file and starts flashing the
    corrupted BIOS file.

    4) Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.

    ** DO NOT SHUT DOWN OR RESTART THE SYSTEM WHILE UPDATING THE BIOS! DOING SO CAN CAUSE SYSTEM BOOT FAILURE!**

    Having a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) is really preferred when
    flashing a BIOS - if there's a fluctuation in the power, the UPS will
    condition the line and will not let a surge or 'brown-out' or
    'black-out' affect your flash...maybe think about the purchase of a
    quality UPS for future reference.

    Good luck!

Try reseating the power cable to your HDD and also the data cable to and from your motherboard. If no joy - then it sounds to me like a power supply unit failure

After installing 2 EVGA geForcw 7600GT graphic cards and srtting bios for dual card, only one card recognized. I believe it's a bios problem but am having toubles getting upate.

I suspect you are using Windows Vista. Apparently, even though the motherboard was marketted as "Vista-ready", it wasn't quite ready. Numerous people have reported no problems with a single video card, but an inability to get two to work.

I could not find any reports to confirm what I suspect to be a solution. However, here it is: A BIOS update (shudder) may be inevitable. Don't panic! First, give driver updates a try. You might get lucky. You never know. The driver's are available direct from the manufacturer at this link: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-E SLI

I further suspect the problem has something to do with the fact that a single card going into either PCI-E 16x slot runs at 16x (duh!), but that two of the same only run at 8x (huh?). This fact could have been easily overlooked with adjusting timing in the drivers specific to vista and is exactly why I suspect a driver update may be a possible fix.

Need m2n sli drivers..help?

Your SLI drivers as you mentioned were installed when your chipset drivers were installed. (NVIDIA nForce CK804 Chipset Driver).
If you use 1 PCI-E graphics card the bios will need to be adjusted to [Auto].
Using 2 PCI-E graphics cards you must install the EZ selector card correctly. See page 4-20 section 4.4 Adjust; SLI Configuration. Than see section 4.4.6 in your manual
Open the Asus link below if you need drivers for your M2N-E SLI;
http://www.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=M2N-E%20SLI

This may seem a bit tricky but its not. First time around the bios settings using SLI graphics cards will appears tough but you'll get it.

Cheers!

The flash memory don't work in windows vista please help me if ther is any new driver for this

Hello mohamadg, you need to clarify your question. Flash memory looks like the memory shown on the site below; (Click on the link).
http://www.flash-memory-store.com/?gclid=CPOWldW-2pgCFQu-GgoduVWOeA

(I think your question pertains to system memory)!
System memory for the Asus motherboard looks like this;
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1554&SRCCODE=WEBGOOMEM&cm_mmc_o=mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE

Your Asus motherboard can only function with, DDR2-800MHz / 667MHz or 533Mhz (Only). Dual channel 4x240 non-ecc memory. You can run up to 8 GB max of memory. If the system memory you are currently using does not match the above type & speed, your motherboard will not function. You will hear a series of beeps during start up of the system. These beeps are known as bios beeps. How many beeps (Including long beeps & how many short beeps you might hear) will tell you what is most likely wrong with your system memory. (See the next link for the Award bios beep codes);
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
Dual channel memory should be bought in pairs & not as a single stick/DIMM. Do not install more than 2GB of system memory until windows has been completely updated through (Windows Update Services). Once Vista or any version of windows has been fully updated you can increase your system memory. You can not mix memory speeds & type. If you are using 533MHz memory, & you want to increase the total memory to be used, you must match the memory speed of 533MHz. All system memory must be the same speed & type. See page 2-10 in your manual. Running two different types of memory may not give off bios beeps & the system may not function at all.
For drivers, click on the Asus link;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Once the link opends, type the model number M2N-E SLI into the search window located in the upper right hand corner of the link & than click the white arrow. In the next link that opends click on, "M2N-E SLI related files for download". Another window will open. Click on the dropdown menu & choose your operating system & click search.
All drivers, manual, bios files, bios utility, CPU supported & FAQ's are listed there.
FAQ link for Vista; http://support.asus.com/faq/faq.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-E%20SLI&product=6&os=24
This last link shows the memory tested to work with the M2N-E SLI (Green) motherboard;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&product=1&model=M2N-E%20SLI&type=map&f_type=34
If this has not answered your question, please let me know.

Thank you for using FixYa mohamadg!

Motherboard Issue

Hi Tomokato,
This maybe nothing but the first thing I checked is the CPU.
Supported CPU list through Asus web site for M2N-SLI
(Click on this link). http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-SLI
The first supported 64 X2 is;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2
Second CPU supported;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (DD),1MB,65W,rev.G,SocketAM2

The CPU that you are using is not supported.
Since this is a new CPU, you might be able to exchange it for the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2.
Link to Asus main web site for M2N-SLI.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-SLI&SLanguage=en-us
Suggest you add the above link to you're favorites.

Even you're memory is not supported. As seen in user manual page. 2-13.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.

Asus m2n-e sli Cpu changed settings on boots up

I could not find BIOS ver. 1302 for the M2N-E Mb. What I do know: Your dual core 4200 showing up as "unknown". Asus says:
This is because the BIOS does not have the relative CPU uCode to support this processor. Please simply update your BIOS to version 0902 or later to resolve this problem.
BIOS 0902 can be downloaded from the link below:
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2N-E%20SLI/0902.zip

Once you cpu shows up correctly, chances are that your over clocking will work and the bios will stop sending you back to change your settings.
