Re: not loading game

The reason it makes the "grinding" noise is because the motor that moves the lens to read the disk is dieing, this generally happens when you have played your ps2 for a long time, this only happens to older consoles.

Put a game disc into ps3 grinding noise wont show game icon

Make sure that you do not have the PS3 on it's side. Lay it flat. Insert a MOVIE DVD first and see if it will recognize the disc.
If you continue to hear a grinding sound when the ps3 is laying down that could only mean one thing, you need a replacement drive.

Dont forget to Always update your Playstation to the newest firmware.

My ps2 is making a grinding noise and is not reading any discs, the discs hardly spin but when they do it grinds loudly. Im willing to take apart the ps2 to fix this, please help.

Hi mattr486!

Sadly it sounds like your disk lense has been damaged beyond repair. The only way to fix your PS2 is by getting tech support or ordering the replacement parts and repairing it yourself (not recommended).

Sorry if i can't be of further assistance.

On switch button turns green and immediatley turns off again. My disc in the beggining stoped spinning eventhough i can here it trying to spin

Can you hear the fan spinning on the inside of the PS2? If the PS2 comes on, loads the disc, then shuts itself off, chances are it is overheating and shuts off to prevent damage. There is a small fan on the inside of the Slim PS2 that keeps it cool.

If you press the reset switch and it goes from red to green and immediately back to red without ever turning on, your motherboard is shot. ESD damage.

Every time i turn it on it will make a grinding noise ant it wont stop

If the grinding noise occurs while you have a disc inside then it could be the len rubbing against the Cd. This problem normally happens in Slim Line editions of playstation2's. If the disc is blue coated, the playstation2's lens finds it hard to read the disc. Resulting in the lens moving closer to the disc. This is avoidable, try standing up your playstation. Or avoiding Blue coated disc.

Disc Grinding, Not Motor or Magnet Thing

I think the only option for you is buy a replacement drive off ebay (you want the same model doesnt matter about the FW version) swap the PCB of the drives over so the new one has your old PCB. The same thing happened to me but when I lubed the spindle the grinding noise went away for a week at a time, so I got fed up of constantly lubing it and bought a new one off ebay and swapped the PCB worked brilliant ever since. Hope this helps.

Wii makes a horrible noise while loading or ejecting the disc

Hello my name is Tim Ehrhart, I repair 360's and have had this problem with them and there problem is that the magnet that holds the disk in place gets stuck and makes a grinding noise that sounds horrid. Please leave feedback as I am new and trying to build a great rep. Thank You.

The inside of the disc player is probably dusty. Video game consoles are notorious for gathering dust. I've fixed dozens that way. Cleaning inside the drive

PS2 Makes Sounds and Keeps Pausing Games

Hi Ebridges2,

The Game your playing is probably a Blue colored media.  That is ones that spin so fast.  You console has become dusty and loaded with lint probably.  You can open the case and clean up the insides. Also while your in there, remove the ocver and polish up the lasers lens.  This will probably get you back in business. If you do nto have success, contact me at Repairtech@   I run The Playstation Clinic at  If you have a Slim Model it will cost more than the big model to repair.  The slim model is $41 full refurbish including return shipping inside the USA.  The big Fat PS2 Versions are $36 including return shipping.
