Hi Christine, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC24 has no suction through the hose, it's likely there's a blockage somewhere in the hose or wand, and the filters may also need a wash.

To locate any blockages and to ensure everything is correct with your vacuum, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use we recommend washing both filters at least once a month as shown in the video attached. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please give us a call when you have your DC24 easily to hand. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

SOURCE: model DC40, the wand doesn't have any suction when I want to use on stairs, etc.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
If your DC40 doesn't seem to have suction through the wand but picks up as normal on flooring, it's likely there's a blockage in the wand or hose. To locate and remove any obstructions, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

    http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc40/dc40-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-up-well/check-the-wand-and-hosedc40

It's also worth giving both filters a wash as shown in the video below - in normal use this should be done at least once a month. Use cold water without detergent and at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further assistance please call our freephone Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Went to vacuum the drapes... suction too strong, drapes came off the window and tore in the hose. how do you adjust the suction?

    Hi there,

For cleaning drapes and more delicate furnishings, the stair tool or crevice tool supplied with your cleaner may be the most appropriate choice. They're designed with airflow holes which reduce pressure at the end of the hose, without compromising pick-up performance. You should find this allows you to clean the drapes more effectively without pulling them into the hose. It may also help to hold the drapes in place with one hand whilst vacuuming with the other.

If you need any further information on using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

    Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

    Kind regards

    No suction with attatchments

if you have cleaned all the filters, there are two you need to wash and the hepa on the back may need to be changed, but the hose is probablly clogged. You can usually remove the hose ( twist it where the hose connects to the machine ) and use a broom stick to try and push the clog out.

Check the nozzle . Turn it over on it's belly and remove the 4 screws that hold the base plate on. Take off the plate and remove the brushroll. I bet you will see a clog in the intake. If not take it to your local vac shop and let them fix it.

    Stair attachment has weak suction

Did you put the duct in for the hose? It goes in front of the tank, take out the duct (#3)that is there and put in the duct that is on the end of the hose. Is there a slit somewhere in the hose, if so you will loose suction.
