Email is a digital way to send/receive messages. An email address is like your home address, a way for people to send messages to each other. Email requires a unique username that no one else has ( to make sure everyone gets the right mail!) and you'll have to come up with a password to protect it so other people cannot access it without permission. Email is MUCH faster than typical post office mail or letter. Where regular mail can take several days to get delivered, email is typically received with several minutes, anywhere in the world!

Gmail is a type of email provider. You can get email through your paid internet service provider (ISP), such as bellsouth, comcast, AT&T or from a free provider such as google, msn, yahoo, and many others. The layout when you check is email is a little different for each service, but they all work the same way.

an email is made of 4 parts
1) the "unique username"
2) the "@" symbol (the symbol is called "at")
3) the service provider "gmail, hotmail, msn, yahoo, etc..."
4) a domain extension ".com, .net, .edu, .gov, etc..."

So, a typical email address looks like
myemail@gmail.com
-or-
myemail@bellsouth.net
-or-
myemail@university.edu

It just depends on your unique username and who is hosting your email.

I have two email addresses russfam425@gmail.com and what do I need to do to sign into my email address eddiebooom@aol.com

Having email from 2 different providers. You will need to sign into each account at their respective sites. gmail.com and aol.com

You can however setup your gmail account to retrieve your aol.com emails and slowly switch over to gmail for your email.

I made a new gmail acc, now I want to cancel it because every email must be going there!!

It sounds like your gmail is defaulting to one that you don't want, and you want it to default to a different one.
To get to your preferred gmail account, you have to sign out of the one you don't want.

1. When you are in gmail, click on the account icon in the top right corner.
2. Click on "Sign Out".
3. On the "Sign Out" page, click on "Sign in with a different account".
4. Here you should be able to access the gmail account you prefer, as well as delete ones that you don't want.

Hope this helps.

I recieve my emails through AOL. isn't gmail another account?

It's another account, but with a completely different company. You're allowed to have more than one email address, with more than one company. Mail sent to your AOL account is separate from mail sent to your GMail account.

Just fine if the account was started on a different computer, as long as you know your username and password. its okay setup or access your gmail account as long as the platform supports it.

Strange emails in gmail

Most likely someone you have sent an email to in the past has had their computer hacked, exposing your email address, and now your email address is on a distribution list.

Nothing you can really do about this but mark as spam and possibly set up a gmail filter with some consistent common feature in the subject or message to always send them to spam or trash.

We want two seperate facebook sign ons but we have the same email address... we are husband and wife and we have had the same email address for years and neither of us wwant to change our email address

Sadly the only solution is to create a new email address for a different account, Facebook does not allow you to use two DIFFERENT accounts on ONE email.

If you are using gmail, it may be possible to register two different Facebook accounts as gmail can be displayed as two different emails. There is a solution for that here:

However, I cannot speak to whether or not this information is reliable.
