1 Answer

Pool cleaner floats in water

It doesn't seem to thoroughly clean the pool even after several hours. Sometimes it runs on two wheels sideways or floats.

Definitely a pressure issue, look for blockages in the unit, hose etc. look for suction leaks, check the pressure of your filter, backwash, clean your filter or replace your sand. So many things can cause a drop in pressure and suction, but should be easy to locate.

Pool cleaners that twist, wheelie and flop over all most allways a problem with the hose, plastic hose gets a memory that needs to be relaxed once or so a week to keep knots and kinks from forming , also replace hose every 3//4 years to as they just get too beat up to work effectivly any more by then

SOURCE: Pentair Legend with boster pump dosent stay on

Make sure that your wheel RPM is not greater than 32. If the RPM is too high, the cleaner will be forced from the bottom of the pool. Make sure that your back up valve is cycling properly because it, too, can cause the cleaner to lose contact with the floor. You might need to use a diverter to make sure that the pool cleaners not getting too much pressure.

Make sure that the Floating Handle is locked diagonally across the top of your Aquabot's body.
Clean the Filter Bag thoroughly so that the fine particles of dirt that get trapped within the fibers of the
Filter Bag are removed. To test if the Filter Bag is inhibiting the
Aquabot's performance simply remove the Filter Bag and operate the cleaner without it. If the Aquabot then pumps
water strongly, and climbs the walls properly, the Bag most likely requires a thorough cleaning

My polairs 360 is laying on its side (the side with 2 wheels) trying to run

Make sure that the bag is not full. It could be weighing down the automatic pool cleaner on one side. Remove the float head and shake it. If you hear water, it needs to be replaced. Make sure that the feed hose if floating evenly on the pool's surface and adjust the hose if necessary.

Polaris 3900 is going in circles

If the cleaner is running in circles to the left the chain has come off the double side. To fix take bottom off and place chain where it is riding on the center sproket. To test turn one wheel and all wheels should turn. Also on the axel blocks the wheels are attached to can be adjusted to allow more tension on the chain.

Unit seems to be nose down position front wheel makes contact back and side wheels don't

With these pool cleaners, this is a common and easily corrected problem. Check the following things. First, make sure that the filter bag is not full. If it is, it could be weighing down the cleaner on one side. Next, remove the head float and shake it. If there is water in the float, you will need to replace it. This is most likely the cause of your problem. Finally, check the hose floats to make sure that they are evenly spaced and are not causing the cleaner to float improperly.

Polaris vac doesnt reverse . which way is it supposd to be running, watr fow away from vac or towards vac?

When these pool cleaners are not reversing, there are several things that you need to check.
  1. Make sure that the back up valve is cycling (it should move in multiple directions).
  2. Check the wheel RPM and make sure that it is between 28-32.
  3. Make sure that the debris bag is empty.
  4. Check to see if the head float has water in it. If it does, replace it.
  5. Make sure that the feed hose is floating.

Try cleaning the filter cartridges thoroughly. Also test operation without filter(s) in place, temporarily. Check that any adjustable jets are open and not creating too much back pressure on system.

Sudden direction change when hung up

One often overlooked area is loss of pressure through worn swivels. This can cause unexplained sluggishness in performance. Most importantly is to make sure that there is a screen in feed line and that it is clean.

Polaris 280 - tank track keeps coming off

I battled with the track falling off for over a season. The pool guys said they fixed it. Tried the previous solution to adjust middle wheel but no luck. My solution was to remove the left wheel and the tank (to get to the screws). The wheel mount allows for minor adjustment but it is also reversible. Turn the mount around and this will extend the wheel base much more. Mine ran for several hours after doing this and so far the track stays on.
