The HTC Desire has 8 Gigabytes of internal memory, but due to the preloaded Android OS and software only 4.5 Gigabytes are available for use. It does not take long to chew up 4.5 GB if you have a lot of music, videos, pictures, and apps. This phone does have a microSD slot though, so you can expand the memory with up to a 64 Gigabyte microSD card. So, below is how you find out if you have a microSD card available:

1. Go into Settings on your phone, and select Storage. This will generally show available storage devices on your phone, including any installed microSD cards. *CAUTION* Your storage devices can be formatted from here - so be careful Not to Format Any Devices as that will wipe all data from the device. If this is not readily visible, move on to option 2.

2. If you are uncertain as to if you have a microSD card installed view the youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJDqdBFtE6U
Open the cover on your phone as detailed in the video and see if there is a card installed where indicated. The card's capacity should be clearly marked on the card.

I hope this helps :)

My ZTE Z837VL keeps displaying the message "Storage space running out Some system functions may not work" How do I fix this?

You have too many things installed on your phone. Try uninstalling some apps (hold down on them until you see the "uninstall" icon appear on your screen), or try erasing some pictures/videos you've taken. These are the things on your phone that will take up the most space. If you still get the message, you can also try navigating you your "downloads" folder and cleaning out some of the things in there. To do so, once again just long-press on the item and select "Delete."

If you still have the "low storage space" alert, you can always purchase a MicroSD card and insert it into the proper slot on your phone. This will allow you to keep all the files/apps you currently have on your phone. I would suggest getting a minimum of 32GB, as that is a fairly standard size and should keep the average person happy for a couple of years. If you take a LOT of videos/photos, or download a lot of apps/files, you might want to opt for a 64GB to further expand your available storage space.

Best of luck, friend!

My tablet keeps giving me error message. Insuficcant space on tablet to download apps

This means the internal memory is full and the only way to add apps is to uninstall other apps that you have installed. Check to see if you have apps you no longer use and uninstall them.

Why do I get you tube error loading messages when trying to access you tube videos on my I pad

Most likely your iPad is full... of pictures, videos, music, etc. Visit the Settings app, tap General, then Usage. In the STORAGE section at the top, you'll see how much of the storage is available on your iPad and how much is used. If the available number is small, you need to remove stuff until you have enough to handle incoming video streams (YouTube, for example).

The STORAGE section also identifies the apps that are using your space - if Music, Photos & Camera, or other apps seem to take a large portion of the space, either remove some of the data associated with those apps (pictures, movies, music) or remove apps themselves (apps you don't use don't need to be taking space on your iPad).

Portable devices aren't meant for large permanent storage. You should save things you intend to keep forever on your desktop device or in the cloud.

My alcatel 980s keeps running out of space & apps have been deleted I believe

Be aware your phone has a very small internal memory. It only can hold a few things. To store music or pictures, you should add a micro SD card.
Be aware that most Apps only can work in the internal memory and the SD card only must be seen as an external HD.

Im using a samsung S4mini and im having a problem when installing watsapp messenger .It keep on saying insufficient storage whilst I have more space

From what I have read online, something has changed so you cannot move apps to the Micro SD Card anymore. You may have to clear some space.

I do not have a S4 Mini but a the bigger S4, and I use CleanMaster to keep things clean (be sure not to delete your music or pictures)
Some phones allow you to move apps to the SD card.

The problem could be a number of things. Maybe you are out of space. Try deleting apps you don't use, music and pictures that you don't need.

Im having problems with my phone memory the phone is an LG 990h and when i try to download an app it says that i dont have space, but i do and i erased all the pictures and it still says the same thing.....

normally when you take a picture it goes on your SD card so your pictures shouldn't affect your internal storage, which is where your apps get downloaded to. you can go into settings and go into your apps or manage apps and it should should give you a list of all your apps and you should be able to click on your apps and when you do that you should have an option to move to SD Card (some apps wont let you) after you've gone through and moved the ones you can move, your internal memory should have more space and you should be able to download more apps :) hope this helps

I recently purchased a 8GB sd card to expand the memory on my zio and it keeps saying that my phone is low on memory and it won't let me download anymore apps or recieve any incoming text messages. Yet...

Apps are stored internally and do not have anything to do with storage provided by the sd card. You are limited to 512MB of space for apps, texts, pictures, video, etc. The sd card storage space can be used to hold pictures, movies, songs.
To free up space, you can do a couple things. First, you can open the File Viewer on your phone and move any photos, movies or songs you've created/downloaded from internal to the sd card. Second, you can delete apps or text messages to free up space.
