I don't understand your problem.

If you have disconnected the inverter from the LCD, you should have 2 connection points.
1 powering the inverter and the other end powers the lamps.

If you have changed your inverter, check to make sure the pinout is the same.

Hope this helps

You have the cable from the LCD to the motherboard? What happens when you try to boot to safe mode?

Why is my replaced lcd screen not lighting up?

1) Wrong LCD screen

2) Video Cable (LCD Cable) is not connected tightly.
Motherboard side, or LCD screen side; or both.

3) IF, a screen Inverter is used, the small cable from the Video Cable, that connects to the screen Inverter; is not connected, or has a loose connection to it. (screen Inverter)

4) An LCD screen, and a screen Inverter are a Matched unit.
If it's the wrong LCD screen......................?

5) IF, a screen Inverter is used; the diagnosis was wrong, and the LCD screen was replaced.
90 PERCENT of the time, the fault is a bad screen Inverter.

A) Laptop's LCD screen uses a CCFL, (Or more than one), for a Backlight; the laptop uses a screen Inverter.

Diagnostic flowchart leads from Graphics Chipset, to Video Cable, to screen Inverter, THEN, LCD screen.
Expensive LCD screen was replaced, instead of the actual part that needed replacing;
Video Cable: $9 to $22
Screen Inverter: $9 to $22

LCD screen: $60 to $245

B) Laptop's LCD screen uses LED backlighting, and does NOT use a screen Inverter:

Diagnostic flowchart is;
A) Video Cable;
A Video Cable should have it's connections PHYSICALLY checked.
You have to try to push the connectors in tighter.
Visual inspection alone will NOT do.

Making sure the Video Cable connections are tight, and this does not fix the problem, then the Video Cable needs to be removed; and every wire in the Video Cable checked for Continuity with a multimeter set to OHM's. (1K)

Not feasible, then take the Video Cable down to the nearest small computer shop; and have the resident tech check it for Continuity.
Should only be a few bucks.

Or just replace the Video Cable.
(Parts changing I know, but...........?)

Primer:
An LCD screen cannot produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, (Or more than one), or a series of LED's.
(Light Emitting Diode)

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. (Bulb)
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses; but on a MUCH smaller scale.

Average thickness is 2mm. That is a little large than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average thickness is almost as long, as the LCD screen is in height.

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power, (Electricity), from the laptop; for the LCD screen, and Backlight.

As previously stated, Backlighting that uses CCFL, uses a screen Inverter.
LED backlighting MAY, or MAY NOT use a screen Inverter.
When the LED backlight technology first came out, it seems some did use a screen Inverter.
It also seems as the technology advanced, LED backlighting does Not use a screen Inverter.

Aspire 5516 internal screen cable

If it was working before, then before replacing the video cable I suggest you reseat the video cable/connector to the motherboard.
Yes you can replace the ribbon cable.
You maybe be able to get one from this WEB site.

The screen flicker on and off and then fades out. It is not the battery. sometimes if you touch the laptop it just turns off.

Could be one of three things:

1.) Failing inverter (which powers the screen up). Given what you describe, if it is the inverter, it may be that the connection is loose to the screen. The inverter converts the 20 volts or so from the laptop to a much higher voltage and relies on a tight fitting.

2.) Failing backlight (this is the light that illuminates the screen after getting a charge from the inverter.) Again, this can also be a loose fitting of the cable between the inverter, the connection to the motherboard and the 30pin connection to the back of the screen.

To test this, connect the laptop to an external monitor, if the monitor stays on, then the problem lies in the above (it may also be a faulty VGA cable between the screen and motherboard, but unlikely)

If it is the problem, you will need to get the inverter and screen tested.

After that, and if the problem occurs ONLY on AC power, I'd suspect that the charger might be throwing out intermittent voltage. Test this with a multimeter set to 20 volts at the DC jack end, with the red probe in the inner of the connector and the black probe in the outer of the connector.

Check also the tightness of the DC jack in the charging port

3.) More serious... the graphics chip may be overheating, this occurs when there is a build up of dust on teh cooling fan, If you have the model with the large plate underneatth the laptop , remove it and clean out the components.. try again and see if this fixes the problem.. if not, then you will need to get it stripped and cleaned by a competent technician (or take the time to do it yourself).

If none of the above work, then you have a failing garphics chip and will need to consider replacing the motherboard

The screen is of laptop model 1456 VQL1T is not coming on, but all indicator lights come on I wish to resolve the problem.

try to pres the sleep button after the computer sleep (indicates from the indicator ligh) than press slep buton again
if that is make your screen coming on it because the batery or the power, but if theres nothing than try to reinstll the Operatig System
if your screen dosn't appear from the start maybe caused by 4 problem
1. maybe your flexible cable that conected the mainboard to lcd (screen) is untigh or broken
2. your screen is broken
3. your lcd inverter need to be replaced
4. your vga is crash
to identifying try to conect to the external display like monitor if on the monitor appear it maybe caused the problem no 1-3
try to open your up panel (up side of the keyboard) try to tigh the cable (usually have black power) make it tigh and tape it using duck tape

Replaced screen still black but you can see something in the backround

Then you have a faulty Power Inverter.. You need to replace the power inverter below the screen... it is the Long rectangular Circuit board - it is what the lcd wires/plug plugs into.. it converts the DC power going through your laptop back to AC Power to Be able to power the bulb..They average $12 to $30 on Ebay for replacement... just unplug from both ends ( display cable plug and lcd bulb plug ) When Searching on Ebay... type : sony vaio vgn-tx power inverter

My compaq preasrio r3000 black screen cant conect to an external

have you any other A/V ports out ie Svid etc if so try that via an A/V lead, if that works reset your bios settings to minimal settings, if that doesnt work search the 'net someone somewhere has had the same problem! try shining a flashlight/lamp onto the screen whilst booting up, if you see anything on the screen then your inverter is definatly gone and yes it could still be your inverter! your laptop may have software/hardware issues with an external monitor?

My daughter's Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop screen has gone almost blank. When I open the laptop I momentarily get to see the screen as it should be. I have tried the 'fn' & 'up arrow' keys without success....

this sounds like a loose conection to the lcd inverter or the lcd cable to the motherboard. it can be repaired. how are you at taking things apart?
