Usually on the Brother products you set the margins by pressing the code or alt key down and over the top row of numeric keys you will see MR (margin release) L margin or R margin, the numeric key below would then need to be pressed. This should set the individual margins.

SOURCE: cant find margin release

Generally, the way the margins work is, wherever the printhead is positioned, when you hit the right or left margin set, is where the margin is set. To reset the margin you must move the printhead to where you want the margin set, and hit the appropriate mar. set button. to move the printhead past where the margin is set, you must hit the "mar rel" button, and then backspace or space to where you want he printhead positioned. On machines without a "mar rel" button, you just use the "backspace" or "spacebar" to move past the margin. You can't release the margins permenantly, you can only move them, or move past them using the above mentioned processes.

How to clear history of tabs and margins to start over on the Brother GX-6750

Unfortunately, I don't think you can reset all of the margins and tabs at once. To reset a specific margin, move to that margin and then press ALT and the 6 key simultaneously. (That's the Margin Release.) If you are resetting the left margin, press the backspace (or space) key until you reach the new margin location. Then press Alt + 7 (L Margin) to set the new margin. For the right margin, press space (or backspace) until you reach the new margin location. Now, press Alt + 8 to set the new right margin location.

You can clear all of the tabs by pressing and holding Alt + 0 (tab clear) for over half a second.

The manual for the GX-6750 is available from Brother on the product support site: http://www.brother-usa.com/support/ModelInfo.aspx?R3ModelID=GX6750 . Click on the Manuals & Documents tab. The direct link to the manual (in English) is http://www.brother-usa.com/VirData/Content/en-US%5CTypewriters%5CConsumer%5CUsersManual%5CUM_AX325_GX_6750_EN_5674.PDF / The procedure to set the margins is on page 2. The procedure to set the tabs is on page 5.

I hope this helps.

How to reset the margins on Brother EM-530

On most electronic typewriters you change the margins by pressing the code button and holding down the press r margin or l margin on the key board. You want the carrier to be where you want the margin set. To set margins beyond the right or left margin move the carrier to the margin and press margin release to go past the margin. Then press code left or right margin.

How to set right/left margins on brother AX110 electronic typewriter?

space or backspace to the place where you want the left margin. You may have to use the margin release key to go past the present margin. When you get the carriage to where you want the margin, depress the left margin set key. Some have L mar and R mar keys, also some use the code key and another key to set.

Normally, you must set the carrier or scale where you want it set on the left then press the left margin set button. Then move the carrier to the right to where you want the right margin set and then press the right margin set button. You may have to use margin release to bypass the previously set margins. Hopw this helps.
