well first to get anything out or into the tomtom it will need to be recognised by the computer.
Try plugging it to another usb port. If that doesn't work, leave it plugged in and turn it off, and also turn off your computer, unplug both the tomtom from the charger(but not from the computer) And unplug your computer from the wall for 15minutes.

Now turn the computer and tomtom on, ones the computer is started try using tomtom home again and see if it is recognized if not, then restart your computer. Check again is it recognized now?

if it still isn't recognised, drop me a comment on this page.

look into my computer and see if the tomtom is shown there, possibly as a removeable storage device (which will disppaer and reappear when plugged in or out, press F5 on my computer window to refresh)

you may be able to move the file directly into the tomtom from my computer if it is shown there,

  • Ekse Jun 18, 2009

you can directly put and remove files that way, hold on I will look into it.

  • Ekse Jun 18, 2009

Press start -> open control panel -> click on uninstall programs or find add or remove programs.

Find tomtom home from the list, and click on uninstall. make sure all instances of tomtom home are removed.

then open this page and download the newest tomtom home

it is the download link which has the blue circle with the windows flag inside.

download the file and ones downloaded, open or run the file to install the latest version of tomtom home to your computer, unplug the tomtom before starting the install, ones tomtom home is installed and started plug the tomtom back into the computer.

Lets solve the problem over a remote support connection - I will be able to see the screen and sort out the problem. Click on this link below:
above link will start the session, if the session doesn't start within a minute or two, use the manually download software link at the bottom and follow instructions.

The tomtom device prompts me to connect the traffic receiver. How do I do that

This is for the RDS-TMC antenna.

Plug the end fitting on the antenna into the bottom of the Tom Tom. Plug your normal power cable into the antenna.

If it's working, when you turn it on, you should see a new display, narrow, vertical, on the far-right side of the screen.

Having difficulty in connecting with tom tom to internet

It's difficult to tell from your brief question exactly what you need. Could you please tell us what you're doing, what you're seeing, and what you expected to see instead?

In general: Try downloading and installing the Tom Tom Home software, then plugging your navigator into a USB port on your computer.

Here's where to get the Tom Tom Home software:

The TMC was working fine on my tom tom ONE XL but has now suddenly stopped recognising it when connected. I connect, turn on the tom tom but no receiver indicated. can you help please?

Try resetting the Tom Tom.

To do this: Stick the end of a paperclip into the reset hole in the bottom of the receiver. See your manual for the details on this.

This fault is often caused by unplugging the receiver from the navigator before turning the navigator off.

If you're using a RDS-TMC, then you don't need to go through Tom Tom Traffic. The traffic bar should show up on the right-hand side of the screen, and you're good to go.

If that bar isn't showing up, here's what to do:

Reset the navigator (use a paperclip in the hole on the bottom of the unit). Plug the RDS-TMC antenna into the navigtor. Plug the car charger cable into the RDS-TMC antenna. Turn on the Tom Tom.

Is there a traffic information bar now?

I have a Tom Tom One T purchased about 7 months ago. It has suddenly stopped receiving Traffic Information. When the RDS -TMC is plugged in my Tom Tom does not detect that it is connected. Can anyone offer...

Try resetting the Tom Tom.

Use a paperclip in the reset hole in the bottom of the navigator. See the manual for more details on resetting.

Often this problem is caused by unplugging from the antenna while the navigator is still turned on.

Unable to get it connected

Is this the RDS-TMC?

Try resetting the navigator (using a paperclip in the reset hole in the bottom of the device). Then plug it in again and see if anything's changed. Remember that the antenna must be connected to power for it to work.

Are you seeing the vertical display on the right-hand side of the screen?

If the thing is constantly searching but never showing traffic updates, it's possible that you don't live in an area that has active RDS-TMC broadcasts.
