Which service manual setting controls horizontal size?

You're discussing about the factory mode adjustments. The horizontal width adjustments will not be there. You have to adjust it by replacing certain capacitors at the horizontal output stage.

Tip

Service menu codes panasonic

I provide this information for those that are qualified and trained to do TV repair work. Entering or making changes in service mode by untrained persons can cause significant and permanent damage to your television. If you are not qualified to service your television, please DO NOT ENTER these service menu codes.

Panasonic TV's after 1996 can be set to "Serviceman Mode" with the
following remote control sequence:

-select the SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode.
-select the TIMER icon and set the SLEEP timer for 30 minutes.
-press the ACTION button twice to get out of the menus.
-change to channel 124.
-adjust the volume to minimum (0).
-Hit the VOL down button on the TV itself (not on
the remote) and a red "CHK" should appear in the upper corner.
-press the ACTION and VOLUME DOWN buttons (again, on the
TV, not the remote) you will toggle between AGING and SERVICEMAN modes.

Select Serviceman mode. The POWER button on the remote control will
select one of the five Serviceman Adjustment modes.

The modes are:

B - Serviceman VCJ SUB Adjustments. These include sub-tint,
sub-color, sub-brightness, sub-contrast, colorkiller/ABL/gamma,
audio and video adjustment, and vertical size.

C - Serviceman VCJ Cut-off adjustments. These include Red, Green
and Blue cut-off, red and blue drive, automatic fine tuning
(AFT), RF AGC (RF gain control), horizontal center, beam limit,
etc.

S - Serviceman Options Adjustments. These involce the PIP and
clock.

M - Serviceman MTS (Stereo/SAP) adjustments.

CHK - the mode you first entered. Normal picture and sound, lets
you check things over and still have a hotkey into the
service menu.

There is one more adjustment that isn't in the five modes, it's
global. When in either the yellow or red CHK mode, you can press
RECALL on the remote control to enter the purity field check mode.
This lets you select a pure white, red, green, or blue screen. A
good thing to walk away from if you just want to temporarily freak
out the floor manager, but it will be fixed as soon as the TV is
turned off. Oh well.

To get out of Serviceman mode, press ACTION and POWER on the
receiver simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The TV will momentarily
shut off and then comes back on.

How can I adjust the screen so I can see the score of the football game it is cut off on my Panasonic TH-50PX75U

Hello
To do this you have to enter into the service mode, ie, factory setting modes, which oly will allow you to do the screen adjustments. Your TV needs vertical S-Correction, to avoid lower side stretch. Four methods to enter into the service mode are given here . Just try OK.

In Sound-Menu Low-tone-regel to MAX and

High-tone-regel to MIN. Press 'F' button on TV.

Then press VOL- on TV and REVEAL on RC in

some time. Select: red and green buttons.

Adjust: yellow and blue buttons. Store:
'STR'. Exit: 'N' on RC.

In Sound-Menu Low-tone-regel to MAX and

High-tone-regel to MIN. Press VOL- on TV

and RESET on RC in some time. Select: red

and green buttons. Adjust: yellow and blue
buttons. Store: 'STORE'. Exit: switch off.

ON: Press simultaneously 'OFF TIMER' on RC

and 'CH.UP' local.

OFF: Press simultaneously 'OFF TIMER' on RC
and 'VOL-' local.

Simultaneously press 'RECALL' on RC and
'VOL-' local. Exit: 'NORMAL' on RC.

After entering into this mode, be careful not to spoil the set. Mark all the initial values on a paper for refernce, and begin to chage the values. You may only have to chage the value of "SC".

How do you exit service mode?

PANASONIC: Panasonic TV's after 1996 can be set to "Serviceman Mode" with the following remote control sequence: First, select the SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode. Then, select the TIMER icon and set the SLEEP timer for 30 minutes. Next, press the ACTION button twice to get out of the menus. Now, change to channel 124. Then, adjust the volume to minimum (0). Now, if you press the ACTION and VOLUME DOWN buttons (again, on the TV, not the remote) you will toggle between AGING and SERVICEMAN modes. Select Serviceman mode. To get out of Serviceman mode, press ACTION and POWER on the remote simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The TV will momentarily shut off and then comes back on. If this does not help you will most likely need to get the service manual as you should always have that anyway before ever attempting any serve mode adustments. Also do not forget to ALWAYS write down all of the values that you change incase a problem arises. Good Luck
