Question about Ariens Garden

1 Answer

I have an Ariens self propel mower model # 911016.I think it runs hot. It sounds to me like it is racing?

So I know this sounds crazy but when I pull back the mower it runs fast. I can only slow it down by having it run in heavy grass.

Should be a cable connected to the handle, might be reversed or could of been snagged causing it to give you this issue

You have to take off a part behind the gears and move it to a slot farther away. Mine was the same way. It's in the manual on how to adjust the speed to go faster.

My only guess is you've put the cable actuator in upside down. Sorry, that's the only thing that makes any sense.

SOURCE: Lawn mower sounds like it is running fast and vibrating.

Sounds like a bent shaft, or bent blade.
Also sounds like the part that holds the blade to the shaft is sheared, and allowing the motor to run faster than it would if it is turning the blade properly.
Hope this helped,

Generally you can get away with a different brand that shares the component. Just take in the old one to compare when you purchase. They need to be the same size.

Front wheels lock up when pull mower backwards

Typically self-propelled mowers are propelled using the front wheels, which only turn forward. Pulling the mower back while the front wheels are turning will damage the drive gears. It's best to raise the front wheels slightly off the ground before pulling back.
