The chuck may be frozen, try applying some oil inside it. If that doesn't work it will need to be opened and inspected for any damage or frozen gears. You always want to rotate the settings every so often to avoid something like this happening. The metal gears sometimes freeze/seize after being in one place too long.

have a look at WORX DRILLS the 14.4v battery and charger are exactly the same as my macallister drill and i have been using it for a few months wihtout problems
