There seems to be a problem with the flow of fuel to my RCT2800, the primer bulb doesn't fill with fuel. I have cleaned the pipes and when not connected to the fuel does flow from the tank but the bulb isn,t pushing fuel through to the carbureter

SOURCE: Gas does not go through the primer bulb

Unless you had the fuel lines off or replaced them, leave them where they are. The problem most likely is in your carb. The diaphragms are possibly brittle or the needle is stuck from varnish from old gas. The easiest solution is to replace the carb.

SOURCE: Ryobi Grass Scorpion Petrol lines from tank to primer to carby where to where

Thanks to

The line off the top of the primer bulb goes to the top of the carburetor.
The line on the bottom of the primer bulb goes to the fitting on the center of the fuel tank and the line off the side of the fuel tank goes to the bottom of the carburetor.

SOURCE: replacing fuel lines on ryobi 767r trimmer

The longest, and sometimes smaller in diameter of the two fuel lines, goes from the carburetor to the bottom of the tank. Leave enough slack in this line so that the filter that attaches to the end will rest comfortably at the bottom of the tank.

The other fuel line goes from the primer bulb to just inside the tank, (about an inch). make sure that you get the right size fuel lines. The plastic coupling goes on the end of this line, inside the tank. This keeps the line from pulling out of the tank.

(HINT): When feeding the lines through the tank holes, cut the lines at an angle. They will feed much easier into the holes. You can than cut them off square, once you know that you have enough to work with.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

SOURCE: Primer bulb won't re-fill.

Not sure about your particular set-up, but there is usually two fuel lines running from the fuel tank. One goes to the carb and the other goes on a fitting on back of the primer bulb. The primer bulb will have a second fitting with a line going to carb. Sounds like either a clogged or leaking fuel line to me. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have a Ryobi S430 4 stroke Weed Eater Trimmer. How many times do i pump the choke (primer) to start cold?

Page 4 and 14 of the manual. A choke is just a device that reduces air flow to the carburetor by closing a flap. You don't pump it, you just move it to the full choke position. I think you may be confusing the 'primer bulb' which pumps fuel from the tank to the carburetor.

To start a cold engine:
? Slowly press the primer bulb 10 times.
NOTE: After the 7th press, fuel should be visible in the primer bulb. If it is not, continue to press the primer until you see fuel in the bulb.
? Set the choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
? With the throttle trigger at idle, pull the starter handle sharply until the engine attempts to run. Do not pull the starter handle more than 4 times.
? Set the choke lever to HALF CHOKE position.

RY28100 primer bulb does not fill. New bulb, new fuel lines & filter, plus carb newly rebuilt. Still doesn't fill bulb or start!

Does it have a base to the primer which sits on the carb.? Have you connected the pipes correctly.??

Need to know how and where the fuel lines connect on a Ryobi Sweeper vac RSV 1100

If your machine has a primer bulb then this is the sequence.

Fuel pipe from the tank, with the filter on. Goes to the FUEL IN side of the carb.

The suction side of the primer then goes to the FUEL OUT side of the carb.

The Primer 'blow' side then goes to the return to tank pipe.

To know which side the 'Suck' and 'Blow' side of the primer are, simply depress the primer and place a finger over one of the outlets to determine the order.

Hello, my Ryobi 410r tiller/cultivator needed new fuel line so I bought the fuel line, return and a new bulb primer. Unfortunately, I can't remember what hose goes where!!! Specifically, I've...

The primer pulls fuel through the carbruetor
So take your return line from the carb. and hook it to the inlet side of the primer and the other side
of the primer bulb transtions into the fuel tank.
You know when you have hooked it up right when you press the primer it fills with fuel and dumps back into the tank.

Hello, I have an Echo SRM-3100 weed wacker 2-cycle that i can start but can't get it to run. i checked the fuel lines and they are clear, i took apart the carb and eveything is clean and in good...

Just to clarify, the purge bulbs actual purpose is to purge the carburetor of air and old fuel and help to pull fresh fuel from the tank to the carburetor. Some units have a purge bulb located on the carb and some have the bulb remotely mounted. I think on your model, the bulb is atop the carburetor on the primer base assembly. If the bub doesn't release, then there possibly is a problem in the fuel tank fuel cap vent. Check the cap and make sure the little duckbill vent is clean and clear. A vapor lock type situation can develop when atmospheric pressured air can't enter the fuel tank. You may also want to remove the purge bulb cover and the bulb and spray the top of the primer base with WD-40. You can remove the fuel lines and spray some into the carb as well. This will maybe clean and lubricate the sensitive check valves that may be sticking in the carburetor, causing your problem. Try this more than once if it doesn't seem to help at first. Internal check valves control fuel flow in and out of the carburetor and they do occasionally malfunction.

My Ryobi start great but when I change it from start to run stays few seconds and died

  • Alow the engine to run for longer on the start setting before you switch to run
  • Ensure air filter is clean. Foam elements can be washed with hot water and detergent. Paper elements can be cleaned with compressed air blown from the inside of the filter but ideally should be replaced.
  • Check fuel lines aren't kinked or blocked restricting fuel flow.
  • Ensure fuel filter isn't dirty. This is probably located at the end of the fuel line in the tank.
  • The fuel lines may have become airlocked. This can happen if the tank is run dry. If the trimmer has a primer bulb, alternatively press it several times and then try to pull start the engine with choke on. Repeat this several times. The primer bulb should feel spongy and fill with fuel.Once the engine kicks, switch to run.

Fails to stay running / primer bulb does not fill

Double check that the fuel lines are routed properly. Another place to look for a potential problem is where the fuel line comes out of the tank. Make sure the hose is not pinched. The typical fuel line routing is the first line (the one with the fuel filter in the end of it) comes out of the tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the carburator. The second line comes out of the tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the primer bulb and the third line goes from top fitting on primer bulb to top fitting on carburator. Hope this helped and best wishes.
