How do I restore factory settings on a dell optiplex 745?

Factory settings only on BIOS. so you can restore it through bios, usually loads as default settings (depends on motherboard and models)..To completely reset/restore BIOS, can just simply remove battery for about 2-5mins and plug it again on motherboard.

I have a hp dv7 that wont turn on the screen it flashes the caps lock and numb lock key once every second and need to know how to do a factory reset

This is normally a hardware issue, if you do get any posting to your screen, or a external monitor when first starting your laptop then it could be a harddrive, or operating system issue, and you can do a factory restore for this. If nothing post, and you get a black screen when starting your computer, then you cannot do a factory restore/reset. If you are talking about factory reset to your bios by clearing the cmos to see if that might help your laptop to come back to life, then you need to take your laptop apart, until you can get to your motherboard and on the motherboard there is a nickel size battery, and that is the cmos battery and needs to be taken out for about 15 sec or so and reinserted to clear the cmos value and bring it back to the default value. In your case, since you get everything blinking, check to see if the ram are in place, and are good by rotating your rams or by just using one ram if both of your bank of filled. Other then that, if clearing your cmos and nothing works, check your battery, and your power source to see if the laptop is getting the power it need, after so, it's pretty much you have a motherboard issue, it's probraly overheated and cost a compacitor to fail, since Hp dv7 and dv6 are known to heat up really good.

Lenovo n500 forgot bios password

Hello, If you forgot your BIOS password,do not worry, you can reset your system back without requesting a BIOS password,Simply unscrew your laptop and get the motherboard of your laptop, locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove for sometime for the battery to discharge say 4-10minutes,or better still if you can locate the jumpers for the BIOS and reset it,the BIOS password will be removed. It is the battery that keeps the BIOS chip alive by suppling it power,if power is not supplied to this chip, then the information on it will be lost. So, remove the battery for some minutes or reset your BIOS jumper on the motherboard WISH YOU THE BEST.
