SOURCE: How to find out/rank Desktop DDR3 RAM's over-clocking ability

Go to the manufacturers website for the "CL" ratings. this will give you a good idea. or go to a company such as "Overclockers.co.uk" they will give you some idea of what you want. The only thing you have to remember is that no 2 sticks will have identical properties.(unless they come as matched items) Or you could try some PC3-17000 RAM and under clock or just run as fast as the mobo CPU combo will allow.

I think if it was working fine till you added the RAM, they type of the RAM you have installed is different to the one which already was working fine.
Take the new RAM out restart your machine and if it boots and work fine we can blame the new RAM, in this case you would have to take the old RAM to any store which sells RAM and match up the type with the old one.
NOTE: Make sure the RAM you are buying is fully compatible to your motherboard, note down the specs from your mother board and match properly while buying the new RAM.

I am having frequent BSOD and also flash/shockwave player problems.. what to do ???

I can only assume that you have added some new hardware to your system recently. BSOD is usually an indication of a hardware conflict, caused by new hardware, Remove any new hardware and try again, BSOD can have other causes although hardware is the most common. Hope this helps.

I have a m4a78lt-m motherboard will kingston ddr3 1600 4gb khx1600c9d3b1k2/4gx memory work with 32bit os I am putting a system togather have purchased the mother board and memory now i am questing if it...

This motherboard uses DDR3-SDRAM, ECC and non-ECC, unbuffered, PC3-10600(1333mhz) or PC3-8500(1066mhz), dual channel architecture (two sticks at a time), and a max memory of 8Gs.
This are the specs for your ram: 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC
(Kit of 2) Intel XMP HyperX = DDR3-1600
Default = DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9-27
CL9-9-9 1.65V
1.5V

In other words, Yes! This should work just fine. The ram will just run at its default speed of 1333mhz.

Ecc ram in compaq Evo d300 won't work, is there a Ram setting in bios?... updated bios to 3.04

Hello mike59087, if you are having a problem with the 'RAM,' you should check to see if the 'System' support "ECC RAM." Next check to see if ie; you added more 'RAM' what type of RAM did you have in the computer before. You should see if the System is compatible with the different "Type: DDR, DDR2, DDR3, 512MB, 1GB, or 2GB; what is the [Maxium] RAM supported? Are the "Speeds different? 333Mhz, 2.1 GHz, 3.2 GHz... Is the RAM, Dual Layer, Double-sided... For the 'best performance; all RAM should be the 'same speed, from the 'same' manufacturer, the "total amount to add up to the "Maxium" supported RAM, and the 'same type: DDR, DDR2, or DDR3... Take a look at this website, it will give you a "quick scan, to see the type of RAM that is best to use with your 'system. Are OCZ PC3 1333 ddr3 1.65v memory compatible with

Intel's web site for the board has the following:

The Desktop Board supports the following memory:

  • Four 240-pin Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) connectors with gold-plated contacts arranged in two channels
  • 1333/1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM interface
  • Support for single- and dual-channel memory interleaving
  • Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs with a voltage rating of less than 1.6 V. Using a DIMM with a voltage rating higher than 1.6 V may damage the processor.
  • Non-ECC DDR3 memory
  • Serial Presence Detect (SPD) memory only
  • Up to 16 GB maximum total system memory
You need to contact TigerDirect and have them change out the memory for sticks that meet the above specs.

Can i upgrade my ram to ddr3 if so what would you recomend .cheers

Thank you for the clarification sir.
NO, the Fujitsu Scalio 600 Media Center uses the Gigabyte GA-8ISXT-FS motherboard, and it only supports DDR Sdram.

This is a PDF Motherboard Manual for the GA-8ISXT-FS mobo, from Fujitsu Support,

http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/Boards/Motherboards/GigaByte/ga-8isxt/Man_8isxt-fs_uk.pdf

This is the support page for the Fujitsu Scalio 600 Media Center,
from Fujitsu Support,

http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/consumer/MediaCenter/Scaleo%20600/Scaleo%20600.htm

Uses either DDR Sdram at 333MegaHertz, or 400MHz.
(PC2700 and PC3200 respectively)

DDR Sdram has 184 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
DDR2 Sdram has 240 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
DDR3 Sdram has the same amount of contact pins as DDR2.

The voltage and signal contact pins are in a different place, from DDR2 to DDR3.
This is why the locating notch on the bottom of the ram stick, is in a different place, comparing DDR2 to DDR3.

So you can see, DDR3 not fit in a DDR2 slot, because the locating lug in the bottom of the ram slot, and the locating notch in the bottom of the ram stick. Keeps people from trying to put DDR3 in a DDR2 slot, and vice-versa.

You can also see why a 240 pin ram stick, will not fit in a 184 pin ram slot.

Bumping up from DDR to DDR2 does make a difference in my book. (Requires using a motherboard that supports DDR2 however, so you would need a different motherboard)

Going from DDR2 to DDR3? Not so much IMHO. The frequency rate is higher, but there is a trade off with slower ram timings.

Sorry if I have been too 'Windy', but I thought I would give you more information, than just,
'No, won't work', or No won't work because your motherboard uses DDR Sdram'.
