Question about Televison & Video

While turing on T.V., I hear a 'swish' noise but the T.V. only displays a black screen

In October 2013, I connected my T.V. to Time Warner's Converter box. Within a week or so, the T.V. would not turn on. I unplugged T.V. from power outlet & converter box for about 15 minutes. I then plugged them both back in to the T.V. The T.V. was now working. A week ago, this happened again. This time, unplugging the converter and power cord has not effect. The T.V. still has a 'swish' sound when pressing the 'Power button', but no picture.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

SOURCE: Panasonic CT36SC13 remote or front power button will not turn off

With the unit unplugged, try pressing all of the front panel switches. These are called "tact" switches and you should feel then engage. If not, than one os defective. As tviceman staed, this will confuse the set a bit and prevent some functions from working. These tact switches are not expensive, but would need to ordered from a generic supplier. The manufacturer is not likely to sell only the switch. The replacement part will be the entire board.

yes call the tech and have the power board replaced. In future have the TV plugged into an anti surge board to protect it ( and you from expensive repair.) I suspect you will need a new power supply fitted

check the battery connections as the noise may be shorting at the terminals ( dirty or loose) have a load test done on the battery as the cold weather quickly fails bad cells.

2002 HD Dyna Super Glide front brake noise at low speed until slight pressure applied to brake lever

If it sounds like "swish-swish" noise, that is nornal for your bike. HD changed the front brakes in the 90's and the result was better stopping performance but there is that darned swishing sound. Don't worry about it, mate, there's nothing wrong with your bike.

Now, if you start to hear squealing when you pull the lever, take the bike to a shop to have the brakes pads replaced. If you feel vibration when you apply the brakes, take it to a shop immediately and have them check the wheel spokes for tightness.

Dell 32" HD TV flashes black every few minutes

You may want to make sure it's a Yamaha by seeing how the TV displays when connected directly to a cable box or DVD. Also try different HDMI or component inputs to see if it's something in the input connection you're using.

Philips 32pt television screen format off center, to the left

For me it was the cable box settings...

I'm not a tech person, so take this for what its worth. I had the same problem with my Vizio and my Time Warner Cable HD/DVR box using the HDMI cord connection. HD channels were always fine, and non HD channels were fine until I went to an HD channel and back. When switching back, the non-HD channels would be shifted to the left as you describe. After much back and forth with both Vizio and Time Warner (each saying its caused by the other), I stumbled across the following fix...

I went into the cable box (scientific atlanta 8300) "settings", under "display," under "output resolution." There was a list including 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and "auto select." I unchecked both 480 options and left 720 and 1080 checked. Problem solved. The other "Display" menu settings are as follows: Picture Size = Stretch, Aspect Ratio = 16x9.

Hope this helps.

LCD won't project

You may have a problem with the image sensor device (CCD). From October 3, 2005 through October 2, 2007, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned problem where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue. To see if you have this problem: Power On your camcorder (make sure the battery is fully charged). Check the LCD screen and verify that the display icons are turned on. If you cannot see the icons, press the Display button until the icons are visible. Put a tape in the camcorder. With the lens cap off, record some video. NOTE: Be sure to speak during the recording so the video will contain your voice. Rewind this section of the tape (using tape counter to verify start of your recording). Play back the recorded video and use the LCD screen on the camcorder to view it. You should hear the audio you recorded and the Display icons/text will still appear. If your camcorder is affected by this CCD issue, the picture will either be extremely distorted, or there will be no visible picture (just a blank LCD screen with the display icons still visible).
