Scanner support has been disabled - Symbol MC9090 Barcode Scanner

you can disable it in the bios. when the computer turns on, hit F1. then navigate to the integrated devices, there will be an option to enable or disable the finger print scanner there.

We have 5 of these at work and I have had to disable all of them.

If the problem is in internet explorer go to View, Internet Options, and on the advanced tab check the box that says "Disable automatic SIP"

This message indicates that the scanner has been disabled cannot be used. The MFP must be powered off and then press and hold the check and the right button and turn on the printer to access the configuration menu

1. In the configuration menu, use the arrow keys to scroll to the Disable Scanner menu item.

2. Press check button.

3. Use the arrow key to scroll to the desired setting. The options are Enable ADF/FB, Disable ADF/FB, Disable ADF only, Auto Disabled. (Please select Enable ADF/FB)

4. Press check button.

5. Press BACK button.

6. Scroll to Exit Config Menu.

7. Press check button. The device restarts.

8. Try running a copy from the ADF and flatbed.

Looks like laser head does not work and cannot be recognizied by scanner.

You may need to reflash the OS. you can normally download it from symbol webpage. you will need a cradle and an SD card.

Its possible the resident scanner is disabled. Right click the scanner icon or check program preferences and locate the option to enable the resident scanner. It is also possible you have malware which is disabling the scanner. No single virus scanner can find all infections.
Run another known good scanner to rule out infections.

The default setting for this scanner is EAN13 enabled. This means that all 12 character barcodes will be changed to 13 characters by adding a zero in front.
How to Disable:

Open the manual that came with the scanner (it's available to download on the Cipherlab web page if you don't have it).
Find the UPCA Parameters barcodes (currently page 29). The next heading down is Convert to EAN13. You will see the disable and enable barcodes.

1) Scan Enter Setup Barcode (on practically every page of the manual at the bottom). The scanner will beep 6 times.
2) Scan the Convert to EAN13 Disable barcode. The scanner will beep once.
3) Scan the Update barcode at the bottom of the same page.

Your scanner should now read both 12 and 13 character barcodes correctly.

if you have any warranty then go for it
or visit any technical person who can check cables and scanning tube of your scanner

You can address the issues by the following steps:

1. Detach the terminals of your scanner and reinsert. If it is a USB scanner, try to use a different USB port. Also, check if the USB terminal was disabled by somebody. This can be disabled in the configuration settings.
2. Uninstall and reinstall the software of your scanner if the first step doesn't work.
