Question about Dell 922 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I replaced my old computer with a new one that has Windows Vista and when I tried to re-install my Dell 922 AIO the scanner doesn't work. I have re-installed the driver and utilities disk and downloaded the latest driver and it still won't work.
Is there an incompatibility problem with Windows Vista? Is there a way to get around this or some kind of patch / update that will fix it.
We are non-profit and don't have the funds to purchase a new scanner at this time.
For windows Vista; it is imperative to run the Vista patch which can be found on the Dell website (Downloads and drivers).
Make sure that you run the patch, after removing the printer USB cable from the computer. Restart the computer as the patch suggests and then install the Vista specific drivers, which also need to be downloaded from Dell Website.
Again, do not connect the printer unless the installation software asks you to.
For scanner issues, those who are unable to get anything scanned to their computer, and are able to print, it is essentialy a Firewall/Anti-virus issue. You can check that out by trying to scan using an application such as MSPaint (Start> type 'mspaint' > hit enter).

Hi. I solved the problem with scanner for Dell AIO 922. All you need is driver for the printer. In Win Vista you have to use program Windows Fax and Scan.

I had this problem. I uninstalled the Dell 922 program I had previouly installed from disc and took out the usb from the hard drive. I turned off my firewall while I downloaded the 32 bit Windows Vista driver from Dells website (in search area I typed in download 922 printer to Windows Vista). When it instructed me to I plugged back in the usb and my printer is working. Hope this helps:)

Did you download and install not just Vista printer driver but also Vista scanner driver and software package, uninstall old utility package and drivers, do not use xp disks, instead go to dells printers website and download full software package for your machoine and reinstall, Make sure that dell have issued the Vista updated package (print driver is not the same as scanner driver and software)

With the windows 7 you lose the old dell print and scan screen. YOu have to use the programs/scan and fax option to scan documents. I read this from someone else's post. Am too busy to find out who it was, but thanks!

I was having the same problem with XP after Windows Update installed a new driver. I finally found a patch from Dell which solved the problem. Here is the link
Run the patch and then re-install your software...worked for me

There appears to be no scanner driver from Dell for Vista for the 922AIO. They won't come and say it but it is true and whatever you do, don't run the cleanup thing.

Here is the solution run the patch from dell.support.com this will uninstall the old driver(installed by windows automatically)
then reboot and isntall the driver from dell not from windows update. that should able the aio center on the windows menu.from there you can scan and copy.or even use the scan button.

I assume the old computer was not Vista
