If the "!ZOOM ERROR" message is displayed on the digital camera, switch the camera off and on again 2 or 3 times.
If this does not clear the error, take the camera to your nearest FUJIFILM Service Station for testing and repairs. Problem may caused by lens zooming gears stuck.

SOURCE: zoom mechanism making noise

well i had the same issue and i just slammed it (carefully of course) on the desk and it started working.... does it still zoom or does it just click and grind? also try zooming in and turning the lens faster outward or the oppsite direction to see if you can jump it back into the correct place on the gears.... my best guess is that it got dropped or the kids sat on it... and it made the gears slip into a bad place....

SOURCE: 18-55mm lens won't zoom

I fix it!
This problem is due to bad design (I think)
The problem is cause of the guards/holder/stand bends a little the you turn the zoom.
I bend the guards just a little to the left.
This get the guards to stand straight then you "zooming".
Perhaps a little grease can help too, but what kind do you use inside a kamera?

SOURCE: lens will not close

Hi

Your camera is still under warranty, and what you are seeing is a generic message that means there is an error with the lens operation. Please call Canon and have them fix it for you for free!

For others who's cameras are not under warranty, you will need to have your lens repaired or replaced if you get the error messages mentioned above.

A couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Canon (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

We have your repair listed as a package in our store for about $70. This covers a new lens, and return shipping of your camera! We even give a 45 day warranty on parts and labor. If you think you can use us then please check us out, even if you need to ask more questions then please feel free to contact me.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

Lens probably got off its track. you need to take the front case apart and pull out the 3 lugs at the base of the outer lens. YOu should ba able to manage to get the outer lens off, dont worry about breakin git as the stuff is made of heavy plastic. If you get it off, see if the inner barrel rotates smoothly. YOu will be actig on a small motor so youll feel a little resistance, but it should be fairly easy to rotate. Lube the helical tracks with heavy white lithium grease and put the outer lens back on making sure to align the tracks, press the lugs back in and reassemble. worth a shot. I did mine and was successful. See my folder on the C8080 http://picasaweb.google.com/pishta68/8080lens/photo#5199141246863292738

Broken Zoom on Fuji Finepix F470

Try turning the power on and gently pulling the lens outward as it powers up. This may force the gears to re-align themselves. Use "fingertip" pressure only. Don't force it excessively. Also try turning on, and then applying slight pressure to the front of the lens while you power it off. You can also try rotating the lens barrel segments while it powers up or shuts off. Sometimes either can get the lens back on track.

Your camera's problem is with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera- lens is stuck

The lens assy. has gone bad if it is making noise. If it is only stuck and not moving the power supply link is broken and supply is not reaching the lens assy motor. May be the SMD fuse would have blown in power supply circuit. May be you can seek the service manual from me and this calls for highly skilled workmanship and tools.
