Question about Canon imageCLASS MF4270 All-In-One Laser Printer
The printer works fine, the scanner worked the other day and today it won't connect.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Go to this link and type "cannot communicate with scanner" in the search box. Click Search. Then select the "ERROR: Cannot communicate with scanner" link. You will see several things to try to correct your problem. Usually, this error shows up if there is another USB device connected which prevents the computer from "seeing" the scanner, even though it can print without problem. So do try to disconnect any other USB device (except mouse or keyboard) and reboot the system.

I finally got a solution to my problem, which is the same as this one. When trying to scan via USB, you have to make sure the unit is set to USB. On the top panel just above the LCD display, is 3 buttons, Copy, Fax, Scan. Hit the SCAN button, till the display says USB SCANNING. Then try to scan again. Good luck!!

SOURCE: When i go to scan
go here and download and install the drivers for the operation system you use..even if they are installed do it again cause the driver may be corrupted or have a strange setting ..and reinstalling will default it ..
after that try again to make the connection ..
be sure the printer is set from the admin computer to be shared..and the drivers for the scanner are reinstalled..and try again ..
also check the firewall and even disable it for a moment cause it might be an issue ..and being on a closed network will not cause it any harm by doing it ..
