The screen on my Wharfedale mp3 SLM01 player has corrupted I have been able to play files by scrolling through but now the battery needs charging it will not take any charge and I cannot see the screens

Dependable, Ive only had mine a few weeks (it was a gift) and its unpredictable to say the least after the 1st charge it lasted about 10hrs and its slowly depreciating! im averageing about 3 hours now.
