My kozy world wall heater makes a boom pop when it lites. It's like a delay in lighting and then it lites.

If the furnace made a clicking noise trying to turn on and then makes the BANG noise at the furnace, it’s most likely a delayed ignition. Imagine a room full of gas and then someone decides to light a match. Big problem. That's what’s happening in your furnace if the ignition of gas is delayed.

A variety of issues can delay the combustion of that gas. So the gas builds up in the furnace until—BOOM—it ignites, causing a mini-explosion. This can harm the heat exchanger, which is very expensive part to replace. Some causes of delayed ignition includes:

1. Dirty burners
2. Flames are lifting away from the burner outlet due to too much primary air
3. Too much gas

If you're handy enough to understand what I've said then burners can be cleaned/replaced, and primary air can be adjusted. With some units gas flow can be adjusted as well; other times the gas valve will need to be replaced.

If you've no idea what I've described, GET HELP before you ruin the heat exchanger and have a more expensive problem on your hands or worse...

Short pilot causing explosive ignition or burners out of line when lighting up

Reznor UDAP-100 heater miss fires when it shuts off. It also blows a big flame out when it ignites after the room temperature stablizes.

When a heater kicks on and a boom occurs, it is known as "delayed ignition". Sounds like the alignment of the pilot/ignitor and the main burner(s) is not correct, thus causing the boom at the end of a burning cycle.

How to fix Flashback on Furnace startup

You should check your chimney and exchanger in the furnace. A blocked exchanger or chimney pipe will create flashback.

I have a Lenox furnace. Before this igniter kicks off, there is a loud noise comes from furnace. Where is that noise from? Thanks.

This is what we call a "delayed ignition",(gas is not being ignited right away), gas builds up in the chamber and then lights causing a boom. The cause of this problem could be from having dirty burners or ignitor not position to ignite the gas right away or your ignitor may not being glowing enough to ignite the gas being released, check all, Good luck.

I have a Hayward H400 gas heater that continues to cycle on and off but then finally turns off with a miniexplosion sound.

This can be plugged or dirty orfaces at the gas header. These are on the pipe and feed gas to the burners. Using a small wrench you can unscrew these, check the ones closest to the main burner. (the one with the ignitor or pilot attached to it) If these plug they will keep gas from the ignitor and build in the rest of the cabnit till, boom. You may have to check the top of the burner tray also for rat nests or even broken fire tile. Any of these can give you the mini boom thing. I would pull the orfaces first though as it is the most common of these problems. Good luck.

What causes delayed ignition, causing a slight boom on lighting main burner?

There will be a web or bug or debris in the pllot asssembly /rail that blocks the path of the transition to main burner or ignition of pilot assembly itself, when it does ignite, theres too much gas built up in the pilot ignitor area and it explodes, clean the orifices in the pilot asssemblt / and or the pilot rail or main burners orifices at the pilot area.

My raypak versa spa heater was making a loud sound when igniting (combustion) and now it wont do anything it seems like there is not any power to the unit but I know there is power and spa controller is...

You may have spider web's in your gas orfaces or rat nest's on your heater tray. The rat nest will be easy to see. But with the spider web's you will have to remove the orfaces from the gas manifold. Then clear with a wire as they are very small. You will need to shut all the power off to the heater to reset so it will start. Their may also be a fuse link or wax switch that guards against roll out of flame. This melts the wax if the heat gets to be enough hurt controls, and will be found on the bottom front of the heater. For your heater uou will need to check your book on the heater.
