That is a great mic. It has a lot to do with the room your in and acoustics of it. If you are too close to your PA or monitor, it will also feedback. Lowering treble and reverb will also help.

There not that much to take apart on the sm58. On page 2 of the user manual there is a wiring diagram to reconnect wires. the grill wind filter part screws on. The socket on the bottom is secured with a screw.

If you're careful, you can solder it yourself.
Just solder some thin wires to the lose ends.
After soldering use some cellotape to isolate the solderingjoint and to attach the wires to the element.
If you're not familiar with soldering tiny things, please don't. Any technician can fix it for you.

The LX series was discontinued by Shure several years ago. They no longer have any new transmitters that would work with your receiver. You could look for a used transmitter, but it would need to be on the exact same frequency as your receiver. That will not be easy to find.
