There is a plug about halfway up in the transaxle, fill till lube runs out. You will need a new seal in the unit eventually, but if leakage is not real bad you can just add the oil recommended by the manufacturer. Hope this helps, plese post solved on So I get credit for a solved problem if it does. If not, check back and give me more info.

SOURCE: I have a 25 hp -50 Filling transaxle with fluid?

Hi, I will try to help you. In the rear of the tractor on the right hand side as you stand behind the mower if you get down and look at right over the axle you will see a small hose with a plug in the end of it and that is where you put fluid in. Hope this helps. George

SOURCE: Craftsman Transmission problem

Some of these tractors have a friction wheel that is driven off of a flat wheel on the bottom of the engine drive shaft. The rubber ring on this friction wheel could be worn out, or it could be out of adjustment.

There appears to be some kind of breather tube (?) going back into the top of the transaxle of my kubota g1800 tractor and is blowing hyd fluid out around where it attaches. what might be my problem?

if it is a breather tube and pressure is building up , it is possible that there is oil in the tube and combined with dust it has gone solid and is blocking the breathe
check for any low areas of the hose that might retain oil

Husqvarna gear oil

I assume you are referring the the transaxle? The replacement oil in the transaxle is as follows: This model ran either a Hydro-Gear or Tuff-Torque transaxle. If Hydro-Gear use: 20W50 synthetic. If Tuff-Torque use: 10W30 synthetic.

Clutch control husqvarna

It is not good to drive the machine with either unit in bypass, the worst that can happen is it will buikd up case pressure and lift the bypass shaft in the hydro, this will then spary oil everywhere, if you are lucky you can just push the shaft back down, there are rubber seals on the lower part of the shaft that should re seal, if there is no sign of any oil spill there is no problem.

Where to put rear end oil at?

On what? If your transaxle is a sealed, owner's manual
should tell you. A seal unit, you may have to take top
half of axle housing. Or drill a small hole and then it.

Engine oil leeks between gearbox & engine

Sounds like a rear main seal, the crankshaft's rear main engine seal. On newer vehicles, it is a one-piece design, and easy to install. The problem is the engine and transaxle have to be separated to get to it. You would either have to pull the engine and transaxle out of the car together for separation, or drop the transaxle and replace the seal with the engine still in the car.
Of course you'd want to know for sure it was a rear main before you started. Check the oil pan carefully around the rear of engine for leaking there. If you clean the area around the leak, you may spot where the new oil comes out. Parts stores have kits for sale to detect leaks. You put a dye in the oil, and use the flourescent light to spot the oil leaking with the flourescent-sensitive dye in it. I hope you find it, good luck.

It sounds like the oil in transaxle is degraded. The transaxle is supposed to be a sealed unit requiring no service but over time the oil will get dirty enough to cause problems like you are describing.Remove the back hitch plate and look at the transaxle it will have a rubber vent hose or a 1/4 alllen wrench fitting on top. You will need to purchase a battery suction bulb from sears automotive and use it to remove as much oil from transaxle as possible. Warm the transaxle up first by running it around, then suction the oil out.Refill with a good synthetic motor oil 15w-50 or 20w-50 like Amsoil or Mobil 1.Do not use transmission fluid or hydraulic fluid. When adding the new oil back fill it to within 1.5 in from the top,be sure to allow this amount of air space in top of transaxle for expansion.
