Question about Zenith R57W46 57" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

Remote will not make it turn off or select inputs

This is an R57W47 CA. I am assuming the same manual works. The lady I bought it from lost the remote. The On/Off push button has been punched in and is possibly stuck. I have tried a universal remote from BestBuy, A DirecTv universal remote and purchased an LG remote that is supposed to be the proper replacement. None will program to turn the TV off much less change the source from CATV. How do I get the case open to clean the boards and repair the ON/OFF switch?

SOURCE: TV does not respond to the remote control

I had this happen on mine after about 3 years. Luckily it was on extended warranty. At first the techs re-soldered the connections to the board for the IR sensor but the problem was still intermittent. The next time they replaced the mainboard and all is well - just like new.

No signal + snow on screen

If you have a "non-High-Definition" Shaw Digital Terminal, tune your TV to Channel 3.
If you are using "component-input/output" or "composite-input/output", use the "Source" (or "Input") button on your TV's remote control to select the correct "input".

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Then check whether you have selected the input in your remote before scanning. Whether the signal detection is auto for PAL/SECAM/...... If you know the format, select it manually and see. If it is a Video/Audio input, check for connections properly in the AV input and select the same AV in your remote.

How to get this to work I have a proscreen 4600, and when plugged in it comes on - so i assume it works, but have no manual- so don't know how it works. Can you assist me?

if you see light immiting then the bulb is ok.

it is probably the input, ensure the input is correctly selected.
eg video or computer.

connect your signal to the back connecor/s
and then on the remote our contol panel select that as your output to the screen.

it may take a while to warm up to get a image on the screen.

also when turning off do not unplug, use the off switch on the remote or control panel so it can
cool the bulb, this helps it last longer. then unplug when the fan has stopped.

I hope this was useful

I own a symphonic 27" television

I had this problem on a symphonic 27 inch TV I just bought from a friend who no longer had a remote. The thing with the menu and buttons on the front of the TV doesn't actually change the TV to true game mode. I don't know what it acutally does, but it isn't really in game mode. When it is in true "game mode" you can't change the channels until you turn game mode off. What I did was bought a universal remote (a specific one that someone told me about) for 8 bucks at walmart and I was then able to switch to game mode with the Input select on the remote. The remote I bought that actually worked is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Magnavox-PM435S-4-Device-Universal/dp/B00006686A/ref=acc_glance_ce_ai_-2_1_tit/002-3174824-8273629
Make sure you look at it before you buy it and make sure it has a button that specifically says "input" on it. I know that some of the universal remotes don't have an input select button or one that doesn't work. As long as you get a Philips-Magnavox that has that button, you should be ok. Much better solution that paying 30 bucks for a new remote specifically for the TV. Hope this helps.

No picture no sound

Make sure you are selecting the correct input on your TV for your TV tuner, sat or cable box.

There are three ways to do this:

1. With the tuner or cable box turned on (you can do that manually or with its remote) use the TV's remote to cycle through all the inputs, until you find the correct one and take note of the name of the input that appears on screen, or

2. Look at the back of the TV and see where it is connected. It will say the name of the input, such as "HDMI1" or "AV2," etc. Then select that input on your TV with the cable or sat tuner turned on, if you have one.

Consult your TV's owner's manual, which will give more information on hookup and selection.

Hope this helps. :)

Manual Controls Not Sufficient

If you have a "Menu" button on the front panel of your set, then you may be able to change settings from the menu this way. If not then you will have to have the original remote to change settings. Stargazer
