My tv has both red and green lights on when you switch it on but all you get is a clicking noise
I had a similar problem with my Vitros 6370. I unplugged the TV and laid it face down on the carpet and removed the rear cover and also the white plastic base plate on the side the mains lead enters the TV. I then checked all the push fit connectors and made sure they were well 'home' Replaced the covers, switched on and it worked! Still working after 3 weeks!

If the sound is like an electrical arcing from the back left as you look at it the probable cause is the LOPT (Line output transformer) get this repalced and the set should be good.
If it as a clicking from just behind the front controls, the 5V standby transformer needs replaced.

I just had same problem. Technician came out and said it was the short power supply and a couple of other small items attached to it that supply the large power supply to power the horizontal image. He has ordered the parts. Cost to be $288 of which $100 of it is labor.

I have just had my LOEWE fixed! I was referred by LOEWE to a registered LOEWE service provider: Beyer Factory TV & Video Service, 2412 W 14 Mile Rd, Royal Oak, MI (248) 435-5555. The problem was 'diagnosed' as a shorted out circuit board. This is not rare in LOEWE TV's, but the repair man said it was still the best TV made. $600.00 later (he did come to the home and returned five days later with the new parts and completed the installation with deftness!) and my baby works like a charm! Sad to say, those green and red lights with the clicking sound is NOT an inexp[ensive problem!

WoW! I have the exact problem with my Aconda ACO9383S ! It just started today! The red light stays on, while the green light intermittantly clicks on and off... I've tried unplugging the TV fvor an hour, holding the on/off button in, yadi, yadi, yada.... HELP!
The power simply went off. For the last couple of days it has been cutting out during programs. Then it simply went dead. Now there is a beeping noise coming fron inside the Television and the green light and red LED light at the front just stay on It sound like it is switching itself on and off by the noise it makes. I have unplugged it for a while and tried to no luck.

It is at times like this that I hate and love the internet all at the same time. My Loewe has done this today for the first time and 4 hours later I am having to deal with the fact that I have a broken TV on my hand! Googled by chance and came across this thread - My TV cost a bomb and I am loathe to spending £300 ($600) fixing it. I might as well get a new one :(
Can anyone else confirm that the problem lies with the 5V standby transformer as mentioned?
We are having the same problem. Our Loewe Aconda TV started clicking on and off, on and off then the screen took on a funny shape and it's dead completely and won't turn on. We are looking for a repair person in the Austin, TX area. We paid a lot for this TV and it really is difficult to shell out more $$$ after only 3 years. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.............
Same problem with my Loewe aconda set! Did everything the other commenters reported without resolution. My set is about 4 - 5 yrs old. For what I paid for this set,... I'm not a happy camper!!!
Same problem - was watching TV yesterday afternoon when all of a sudden, the set turned itself off. Thought maybe the cable was having issues, but working fine in the rest of the house. Try to turn on the TV w/the remote - red & green lights come on, sounds like the TV is trying to start, then the green light turns off & TV turns itself off. Tried unplugging for 1 hr+, etc. just as others have mentioned to no avail. TV is less than 4 years old & very costly - will be very unhappy to shell out big bucks to fix!!!
I have the same problem. As of today, July 21,2008.
TV was fine yesterday. This morning it only "clicks" when I tried to turn it on. I have tried to find a repair person but none are familiar with this TV and do not want to take on the repair. I called the people who did repair work in MI. for one of you. I live in Mpls.Mn. The people at BEYERS in Mi gave me the number to the factory in NJ. I called 973 625 4056 to NJ factory and got a voice mail box. I am waiting for a return call.
The man I talked to at BEYERS in MI told me that if all else fails I could ship the inner workings of my TV to them in MI and they would repair. As you know the TV costs and weighs a ton! Damn, I am frustrated.
Same problem here on my (somewhat old now) Loewe Arcadia. When I press the white master switch behind the fold down panel, the red standby light and green ON light just flash at couple of second intervals and I hear a click sound when it does. The tube never lights up.
Similar problem...set is an Aventis I think. Red and green on first then I press control ON...zinging noise immediately and red light is only on. Nothing but blackness ever on screen. If it costs $600 (£300) to get it fixed I think I'll bite the bullet and go LCD or plasma large screen.
From Montreal:
Same problem, went to certified Loewe's Shop, $659 later came back repaired. They change the flyback transformer, a fuse and a couple of resistances, found some bad welding inside also.
The repair was ok but too expensive. Original cost evaluation was $350!.
I do have now a black dot right at the center of the front panel.
I has been the best monitor ever produced on earth until now. As a multimedia specialist I use it for demos of our own production.
This si a classical problem, when green and red go crazy its time to find a repair shop or to buy a new set with less capabilities.
I have had the same problem - sometimes it will restart when I hold my finger on the on button on the remote although occasionally with all the menus in German. This seems to correct itself when it is switched off again. By the look of the answers I think it may be time to start shopping for a new TV.
My Velos 28" has a similar problem. At random it switches off and goes to black screen and no sound. It clicks like it is trying to switch back on but it will not. First time powered down and it came back on. 3 weeks later just happened again, this time it did not come on. Left overnight and all is now working. I assume it will eventually fail completely.
Thanks to previous posters for posting. Must say disappointed with Loewe, Panasonics are third of the price and seem to go for 10years no problem!
Exactly the same problem. Switches on to find red and green button comes on but then switches to red only before picture comes up. I might try a few of the tips from above and then go tv shopping as it seems an expensive problem to try to repair.
Hello everyone! I also have the exact problem with my Aconda ACO9383S ! The red light stays on, while the green light intermittantly clicks on and off... it looks like the noise comes from de front controls.
