Try to update your antivirus and scan it. or try to download this worm/trojan killer software: http://leerz25.sitetested.com then scan your computer. I have same problem with my PC before. Tyr to access C: or D: using my computer and type C: or D: in the address bar then enter. If it works then the cause of your problem is a virus.

Driver for Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K16D

Suggest you try this, Chris;

Go to Device Manager.

[WinXP:
Start > Right-click on My Computer > Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list > Left-click on the Hardware tab. Left-click on Device Manager

Win Vista/ Win 7:
Windows logo button > Right-click on Computer > follow the above ]

When Device Manager loads click on the + sign, to the left of DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right-click right on the name of the optical drive. (CD/DVD drive)

Left-click on Uninstall.

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up; "Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
It's OK. Click on OK.

Now close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Restart your computer.

(WinXP: Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart
Win Vista/Win 7: Windows logo button > Restart )

When Windows fully loads you will get a pop-up, out of the system tray, "Found new hardware device", and perhaps another one, "Found Pioneer DVD-RW"

Windows has the habit of losing drivers. Let's see if this 'slaps Windows around'.

joecoolvette

EXTRACT Virus FILES BEFORE PERFORMING SCAN

You can use this program:

http://www.download.com/Unlocker/3000-2248_4-10637577.html?tag=lst-1

to unlock the files and then delete them. I've used it before to remove virus files that I couldn't delete the normal way.

Cd/rom drive

Don't know what Operating System you are using, but go to Device Manager.

[Win XP: Start > Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager

Win Vista/ Win 7:
Windows logo button > Right -click on Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager ]

In Device Manager click on the + sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right-click on the Name of the optical drive. (CD/DVD drive)
Left-click on -> Uninstall.

A Microsoft 'Squawk Box' will come up, "Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
It is OK. Click on OK.

Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Restart your computer.

[WinXP: Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart
Win Vista/Win 7: Windows logo button > Restart ]

When Windows FULLY loads you will see a pop-up out of the system tray, "Found new hardware device", and perhaps another one, "Found XXXX CD/DVD-ROM drive"

(XXXX being the manufacturer name)

Ya gotta love Windoze. Looses the address to drivers.

[Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device.

Optical drive is the device, do not know what Windows O/S you are using ]

If that doesn't do it suggest start looking for a replacement optical drive. An optical drive is a mechanical device. As such it has a 'Life Cycle'. Yours may be at the end of it's.

[ALL power removed. AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Turn laptop over. There is usually one screw on the bottom to remove, then the optical drive can be slid out. Need exact info post the laptop manufacturer, and model number. Model number is on the Bottom of the laptop. Product Number (P/N) for HP, and Compaq; in white Service Tag on bottom ]

I want to remove all documents and pictures from my computer /laptop on to my memory stick. Can you tell me how to do this task. thank you.

Two methods Martina.

1) Memory Stick plugged in, go to the document, or photo/s. Right-click on it.
In the fly-out menu list click on Copy, or Send To.
Then left-click on the memory stick drive letter.

[ A: drive is for a Floppy Drive. N/A
No B: drive

C: drive is the Harddrive

D: drive is usually reserved for an optical drive. CD or DVD drive
It also may instead be the backup drive. (Has basic Windows files used to restore the Window operating system)

E: drive; May be for a second optical drive. IF there are two optical drives

The E: drive letter, F: drive letter, G: drive letter, or on up the alphabet, may for the Memory Stick you plugged in.

{I have drive letters C:, D:, E:, F:, G:, H:, I:, J:, and K: in my computer }

How to know? Look in My Computer
(For WinXP operating system.
Computer for Vista, and Win 7}

Look BEFORE you plug the Memory Stick in.

Windows XP: Left-click on Start, then on My Computer
Win Vista, and Win 7: Left-click on the Windows logo button, then on Computer.

See what is associated with the different drive letters.

Now plug the Memory Stick in. See which drive letter is associated with it ]

Instead of having to copy over each document, or photo individually, you could put your documents in one folder, and your photos in another folder. Names are your choice.

Then just copy the folder to the Memory Stick.

2) The second method is to go to Windows Explorer (Not Internet Explorer), and drag the document/s, or photo/s over to the file tree, and on top of the corresponding drive letter that matches the Memory Stick.

For additional questions, or to have me clarify anything I have stated, please post in a Comment.
(Believe upper right of your page is Comment, in blue)

try a different usb drive. if you are using win 7 or vista uninstall that device driver you downloaded. if its xp re install your usb drivers from the windows site just go to your device manager
win 7 vista click on computer sys prop device manager see if drive is connected hit update driver or roll back. same with usb system on win xp right click my comp. go to prop, then device manager let me know if this helps. but really important to make sure that you are plugged into a usb port in the back of the pc not thru a hub

Disable System Restore. Scan your computer with the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
http://malwarebytes.org/
If you don't have an Anti-Virus program, download Avast and scan.
http://www.avast.com/
If both scans don't detect anything, do this..
Ctrl-Alt-Del > Processes - End the following processes in order:
dxdlg.exe
wscript.exe
Start > Run > regedit - Open the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
In the right hand pane, select Userinit and delete everything except C:\windows\system32\ userinit.exe

Make sure the processes wscript.exe and dxdlg.exe are not running.

Delete the following files
C:\Windows\System32\dxdlg.exe
C:\Windows\System32\boot.vbs
In your Windows drive, search for boot.vbs and delete all of them.
In your Windows drive, search for kinza.exe and delete all of them.
Enable System Restore.
Restart your computer.
