This is the problem with the extra prefetch parameters because of excessive and unwanted program installed .

For this foe window xp
just type in Run 'regedit '
Window registry will open

Then Click on Hack_local_machine
then in system->CurrentControlSet->Session Manager->Memory Management-> PrefetchParameters
After clicking PrefetchParameters on right had site yor are getting the key called EnablePrefetchar
You just modify that value data to Zero .and save it.

This for works for windows only and having 512 MB ram.

i presume u have installed xp and vista on one machine: they are using similiar routines, you may have to reinstall both of them!

if u do have setup-cds for both os, all software installed on extra cds and the drivers for your laptop,
then back-up personal data, run a virusscan using avast! antivir -if nothing found: good!

then blank out your system( erase both operation systems,)
until you have an almost empty harddisk,
then format it and start installing the older os: (win-xp) first,
set up a functioning win-xp system with all the drivers,
then install vista same
attention: all service programs must be installed in xp and vista!
then try rebooting.

after hardware-check/ boot procedure you will be able to
choose either xp or vista - and things should be normal now !
