I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and i changed the starter, crank position sensor, tried a different ignition but the ignition still would not turn the engine over... Im thinking about wiring up a push start...

unless you have the key fob also, you need a new ignition switch, with key fob and key with a chip in it,the switch turns on the fuel pump when the chip is recognized, take it to someone that knows what they are doing, you CANNOT hotwire it.

2000 Dodge Ram 1500 turns over but wont start, I've checked the air filter, and listened for the fuel pump, and checked the spark plugs for a spark, but I still haven't figured this one out.

Check your Fuel pump turn you key to the on position and remove your gas cap put your ears right up against the hole and get someone to turn the key on and off a couple of times you should hear a noise if you don't your pump is gone.

Trouble code P 0513 2003 Dodge ram 1500

This Code means incorrect immobilizer key. If this is a battery powered combination chip and remote, the Battery voltage may have dropped to change the frequency of the part.

But since it only happens at certain positions of the keyswitch there may be a problem in the keyswitch reader. I read about most problems denying a start or failing to continuing to run after starting. Your exact problem was not listed.

There are several components for this system. There may be moisture in the key or condensation from the cold. Put key in closed jar of rice to dry it out.

Plase rate my info.

2003 dodge 1500 ram engine will not turn off after i turn off ignition and take key out

My guess would be a stuck relay or something with the key switch.
You could pull the relays to see if one will kill the engine, or check for power at the key switch.

How do you replace the ignition switch in a 2006 dodge ram 1500

First take off the cowling around your steering collumn It should be only 2 screws on the bottom of your steering collumn. You won't be able to get the bottom half all the way off, but you can get to what you need to do.

You need to pull the bottom half away from the bottom as far as you can without breakng it. Underneath where your inginion switch is there is a little round hole, a bit smaller around then a cigarette. You need a probe or something L shaped to stick up in there i believe a standard pen will work as well. Put your key in the ignition and turn to the on position. Put the L shaped probe in the hole in the bottom of the ignition, turn the key to the on position. While pushing up on the probe and your key in the on position you should be able to pull the old ignition switch out fairly easily. You might have to jiggle and wiggle it a little.

When you put the new one back in, just line up the spring loaded tab (the one you pushed in on at the bottom of the ingnition to get it out) and have the key in the on position like it was when you took it out. It should slide right back in. Turn your key to the off position and your key should slide right out. Put the column back on and your all done! I hope all goes well

Problem with starting my 2003 dodge ram

My father has the same problem with his 2001 Chrysler Sebring, the key will go into the ignition switch but wont turn. Called the dealer and seems the tumblers inside the ignition have gotten stuck, the solution... put the key in the ignition and tap it gently with a hammer (plastic tip if you have it) and it worked fine. Not sure what the guys at Autozone are pull but on a Ram 5.7 Hemi there are individual coils, not one, I should know I also have a 2003 Ram 1500 and have changed the plugs (not fun)... I have a code scanner (Hypertec) and when I've gotten a check engine light I check it with the scanner. Turned out mine had a problem with the air sensor in the intake. $15 part fixed the problems. Good Luck.

Hoe to remove the ignition switch in 05 ram 1500

Step1 Disconnect the negative battery cable from the terminal on the battery. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers by unscrewing or unclipping them. Step2 Remove the steering wheel by lifting off the center cover, disconnecting the horn wire and removing the retaining nut and washer. Make a mark on the steering wheel spline and the wheel itself so you can line it back up precisely. Pull the steering wheel straight back to remove from the shaft. Step3 Take off windshield wiper and turn signal switches by pulling them off as you did the steering wheelmag-glass_10x10.gif and disconnect the wiring. Slide the spacer sleeve off of the steering column. Step4 Unscrew the ignition switch mounting screws. Pull out the ignition switch. Disconnect the wiring connector from back of the ignition switch. Simply loosen the tabs and pull it out. Step5 Insert your key into the ignition. Turn the ignition switch to the locked position. Depress the retaining pin with a small screwdriver and turn the key to the Off position to free the cylinder. Once it is free, turn the key to lock position and remove the key and key cylinder. Step6 Install your old key cylinder into the new ignition switch assembly. Make sure the contacts in the cylinder and assembly line up. Reattach wiring to ignition switch, slide it into place, screw in mounting screws and reassemble steering wheel and switches.
