Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

8 Answers

My HP Pavilion dv6700 will not display anything. The laptop seems to start up normally but there is nothing on the screen. Its just blank (does not light up at all). Any help would be great, would mainly like to know what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix. Thanks

i forgot to mention that this started about 1-2 monthis ago, then all of a sudden last night when turned on it displayed as normal, but once it was shut down again the problem has continued.

Removing and installing the battery back in didn't seems to help, I guess ill need to get a technician to look at it.

I contacted HP Tech Support and they said it was most likely the Video Card on the System Board is faulty. If this is the case how do i fix it and what kind of cost am i looking at for the repairs?

I had exactly this problem - I could hear the fan going, I could hear the computer starting up, but I heard no Windows startup noises and there was nothing on the display, literally, nothing.

So I called the HP customer service and they were no help. They told me I would have to pay for an additional warranty. Then I called the store where I purchased my computer (which happened to be Sam's Club - they were so helpful!) and they told me:

1. Unplug the computer
2. Take out the battery
3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds at least
4. Plug in the computer and push the power button again, long enough to start the computer
5. Voila! (for me anyway! I was stoked!)

Simple fix, thank goodness - I don't know much about computers, I'm sure you can tell!

Hello my friend, try to remove your battery and then installed it back then make it sure that the battery has the right amount of energy to supply the needs of your laptop. Also If the problems is still no display then kindly contact a technician in your place or find a service center near within your locality and let them fix and trobleshoot the problem.  The usual cost of in fixing the problem is not much maybe a maximum of hundre dollars (if you are using US Dollar Currency). the worst problem if your unit has  a defective parts then may be it defends the price of the defective parts will you spend.

I had a similar problem with my HP Pavilion dv6700 laptop. I was contemplating purchasing a new laptop; instead I went for my screwdriver and attempted to open the laptop to see if I could fix it. Failing to open the laptop I replaced the screws and applied power. To my surprised the laptop booted up with no issues. I know this is not the fix you are looking for but I think too much pressure was applied to a critical componet, therefore, preventing succesfull boot.

This might be a possible fix , when system is fully booted which is after a few minutes , try holding down the function key on keyboard located bottom left hand corner [fn] and also hold or tap the F8 key top middle part of keyboard several times. this controls dim and brighten affect. if it does not work there may be a possibility that the lamp bulb is out in your display. and if you are not a technician don't even try to replace , because they contain mercury and it is very tricky part to replace.

You need to replace the motherboard. When nothing comes on the display this means the bios on the motherboard is bad and the board and cpu need replaced.
