1 Pound = 0.0714285714 (1/14) Stone or alternatively 1 Stone = 14 lbs. If you take your weight in pounds and divide by 14, you will get your weight in Stone.

One trick I use is to add up all the digits and divide by 3. If the answer is even, (a multiple of 3), it's not a prime number.

57 = 5+7=12. 12 divides by 3 evenly (4), is not a prime.

59 = 5+9=14. 14 does not divide by 3 evenly, therefore prime.

999 = 9+9+9=27 divide by 3 = 9, not prime

997 = 9+9+7=25 divide by 3=8.3 not even and is prime

Add the numbers together then divide by the number of numbers. In this case, adding them together gives 83, and there are 9 numbers. Dividing 83 by 9 gives 9.22 for the mean.

Use the rules for exponents and you will calculate it by hand

(1*10^-14)/(5*10^-12)=(1/5)*10^(-14+12)= 0.2*10^-2=2*10-3

To enter powers of 10 use the short-cut key [EE]

For example to enter 6.02*10^23 type in** 6.02* [EE] 23**. When you use the EE key, the base (10) should not appear.

Sorry but you are using the word EQUATION incorrectly. All you have is two numbers you want to divide one by the other.

Enter the numerator 1EE (-) 14, press the division key / then enter the 5 EE (-) 12. Press the = sign.

Note: to enter the negative sign in the exponents, use the change sign key marked**(-), (+/-) or [+/-] **. Do not use the regular MINUS sign.

When you use the EE key, you must not enter the 10. It is understood because EE is a shortcut for***10^**.

Hi,

Here's a simple equation.

Divide 14 by 20 (14/20). You will get .7 as an answer (note that it is in decimal form).

Just move the point (.) 2 places to the right (you will get 7_.).

Replace _ with 0 to convert it to percentage form.

The final answer is 70%.

Hope this helps.

With the TI-84 type in the following: [1] [2] [6] [divide] [9] [=]

This will give you 14.

This will give you 14.

The surface area of the outer surface is the circumference of the outside of the pipe times its length. So, if OR is the radius of the outside of the pipe and SO is the outer surface area,

SO = 2 * pi * OR * 14

Similarly, the surface area of the outer surface is SI = 2 * pi * IR *14 (if SI is the inner surface area and IR is the radius of the inside of the pipe.

The question states that the difference between the outside surface area and the inside surface area is 88 sq. cm:

SO - SI = 88 ; substituting:

(2 * pi * OR * 14) - (2 * pi * IR * 14) = 88 ; factoring

(2 * pi * 14) (OR - IR) = 88 ;dividing both sides by 2*pi*14

(OR - IR) = 88/(2 * pi) = 88/(2 * 3.14159*14) = 1.00

So, the outside radius is 1 cm more than the inside radius.

It's not clear if the volume stated is the volume of the metal in the pipe or the volume of air inside the pipe, so I will solve it both ways:

If volume of 176cc is of the air inside, the formula for this volume is 14 * pi * IR *IR

176 = 14 * 3.14159 * IR * IR ; dividing both sides by 14 * 3.14159

176/(14 * 3.14159) = IR * IR ; doing the arithmetic

4 = IR * IR ; taking the square root of both sides

sqrt(4) = IR

**IR = 2 cm**

substituting back into the first equation, the OR is 1cm more than the IR, so

**OR = 3 cm**

If volume of 176cc is of the iron in the pipe, the formula for that volume is the difference between the volume of the outside of the pipe and the volume of the inside of the pipe, or

(14 * pi * OR * OR) - (14 * pi * IR * IR) = 176 ; factoring

(14 * pi) ((OR * OR) - (IR * IR)) = 176 ; dividing both sides by 14 * pi

((OR * OR) - (IR * IR)) = 176/(14 * 3.14159) = 4

but, since OR is 1 cm more than IR (from above), we can substitute OR = IR + 1

and OR * OR = (IR + 1) * (IR + 1) = (IR*IR) + 2*IR +1

So, ((OR * OR) - (IR * IR)) = 4 becomes

(IR*IR) + 2*IR +1 - (IR*IR) = 4 ; simplifying (IRsquared - IRsquared = 0)

2*IR + 1 = 4 ; subtract 1 from both sides

2*IR = 3 ; divide both sides by 2

IR = 3/2 ;

**IR = 1.5cm**

**OR = 2.5cm**

SO = 2 * pi * OR * 14

Similarly, the surface area of the outer surface is SI = 2 * pi * IR *14 (if SI is the inner surface area and IR is the radius of the inside of the pipe.

I would press 14 and then press the divide button and then press 10. That would give me 1.4 then i would press the multiply button and press 1 and the divide button and press 4, then i would press equal.

That gives me 0.35

That gives me 0.35
