How do you select auto focus point

On the back of the camera top right you may see a button with an icon above showing 5 white blocks in a + sign in a white box. Press this and you'll see the focus points. Use the left / right and up / down button to select the focus points.

Canon 450D viewfinder out of focus due to loose element within viewfinder, is this repairable

There's a diopter adjustment knob above and right of the viewfinder. Turn the knob while peering through the viewfinder until it comes into focus.

My Canon EOS 450D shows busy while trying to click on AF auto mode and it does not click at all.

There are several contributing factors to this problem and I'll try to list a few that may be the cause.
All Canon EOS camera auto focus modes us contrast to focus this means simply that no contrast there is no focus. There is a small green dot in the lower right corner of the viewfinder that will come on and stay on solid when auto focus as been achieved. By default the shutter will not operate "click" if auto focus has not been made.

Here are a few examples of where auto focus will ether search (focus back and forth) or fail completely.

A solid painted wall, glass between the camera and subject, mirror, chrome, any large body of water, clear sky. Another place you wouldn't expect is clear skin in your subjects face or body.

Cameras with multiple focus points and set to other then the middle will have a problem if the photographer is still attempting to use the center focus point.

Look for the green dot in the lower right corner of the viewfinder that's your focus confirmation.

AF 20mm f:2.8 D don't autofocus accurately. It focuses always behind the focus point.

Make sure that your dof is in the right range for your chosen f value and that your focus settings are set correctly in your camera.....some of the older nikon lenses do not have proper data and will not focus properly on any camera and must be focused manually. That being said 20mm is fairly wide and it is not overly complicated to manually focus

Since dropping my Tamron 70-200 lense, it continues to work, but the autofocus is just off. The camera will focus on the subject and take the photo, but when reviewing the photograph it is out of focus....

Hum, something doesn't sit right with what you just described. If the camera in focus green dot comes on solid then the camera is saying the image is in focus. Did you just drop the lens or was the camera attached to the lens and the whole assembly hit the ground. Lets back up some more what is it you are trying to focus on, meaning the camera will be confused solid colour, no contrast, glass, water, chrome. Or trying to focus on something to close for the lens optics yes I know you said Macro but even macro but even this lens has a minimum focus distance. Check your specification sheet that came with the lens. Okay another thing and this is a biggy if you are trying to focus on something at F2.8 close in the camera may catch focus but the DOF is so shallow you can't actually see the focus point and everything appears out of focus. Okay another thing, lets say you have this lens mounted on a tripod at a setting of F11 and a shutter speed down into the 1/50 or even a bit slower, your think you are okay because it's on a tripod right, nope just by you tripping the shutter you have moved the camera and the pictures will be blurry under close examination. In this case you need to do one of two things or both. You can use a 2 second shutter delay and or mirror lock up. I use both when available. I've even gone to using an electronic release in some cases. So if the camera in focus light in the lower right corner of the viewfinder comes on solid then the camera has focus. If the lens was off a bit the in focus light wouldn't come on or if it did it would flicker and if it's not got focus the shutter couldn't be released. So sorry I think it's one of the other problems I mentioned. Hope I helped and not confused you to here is a sample picture a center crop of a much larger picture the scene was 3/4 mile away.

It's pretty crisp but the sizing took a bit the original you can count the brick on the building.

The camera is focusing but the in the viewfinder it is not focusing. I have turned the camera on and off, reset the lens, and cleaned the sensors.

Right to the viewfinder there is a knob to compensate vision problems, this knob i used for people with prescription glasses should use it if they want to look through the viewfinder without their glasses Move the knob either way until YOU see it in focus. Make sure the dot inside to the right is illuminated which means THE CAMERA is in focus.

Camera won't focus

Hi,

Check whether you have a proper lighting in the rom, try to use the camera in outdor and check whether the autofocus is working..

Also check whether the camera setting is set right, if the camera is set to MACRO mode and if you focus distance object it wont get focuses..

Even if the setting is right and the camera is not focssing then you have take it to sevice center to service it..

Camera xsi rebel 12.5 megapixel won't focus with

Most entry level SLR cameras will struggle to focus in low light, especially with the kit lens. By rights the flash should popup and emit a flash pulse to help focus. This is called focus assist. You might have to consult the manual to check if this function is turned on or not.

LCD - Focus

DSLR camera was not made to be used as a point and shoot camera and you cant preview the shot before taking a picture. You are to use the eye piece to focus right. Also before taking a picture, push the exposure button just a little to let the camera focus right.
