Error code 79 service error

My manual says error means that an incompatible DIMM is installed. I do not know where the DIMM is located on my printer. HP did not say what is the correct DIMM to install. Thank you, Kathleen

Yes...if you remove the jet direct card and your error goes away, be sure it is the jet direct card. If it says 600, or 610 on it, those cards had a lot of problems.

You can buy these rebuilt very resonably.

It would not surprice me if you have a defective formatter board. This is a very commen problem with this machine. Officialy you have to replace the formatterboard but there is also an other way to fix it. Put the formatterboard in to a preheated oven 190 degrees Celcius (350 fahrenheit) for 8 minutes. 8 out of 10 times it works fine fine and the machine is up and running. If this does not work you still can replace the formatterboard.

Restart the printer and try to print the same job, if it fails, try printing a different job, could be corrupt file. Can be bad memory or a bad network card if one is installed, remove memory one dimm at a time to see if the error goes away. Otherwise it is the formatter itself.

HOW DO I FIX KYOCERA SUM ERROR CODE F010?

That service code refers to the flash dimm, which is on the main pwb assy (controller). You have to try upgrading the system firmware. If the upgrade procedure fails, then you have to replace the flash dimm.

When looking thru the menu of the printer, I got a "79 error" readout with a scrolling "power off - power on" readout as well. The printer/fax/scanner is totally frozen. Tried...

The 79 error is an internal firmware error.
www.hp.com
Download the firmware. The printer has to be ready to install it.
If you can't get it to READY, you will have to get a firmware recovery DIMM from HP.
Or try a local printer repair shop.
Because this is an old printer, you may not be able to get a recovery DIMM.

79 Error

Turn off then on

The device has experienced an internal

firmware error.

Turn off the power by using the power

switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then

turn on the power and wait for the device to

initialize.

If you have recently installed a memory

DIMM in the device, turn off the device,

remove the memory DIMM, reinstall the

DIMM to verify that it is seated properly,

and then turn on the device.

If a surge protector is being used, remove

it. Plug the device directly into the wall

socket. Use the power switch to turn the

device on.

If the error persists, upgrade the firmware.

See Updating or recovering the firmware

code.

If the error persists, replace the formatter.
