If it says ROUTER that means YES, since all what NAT is "network address translation" means the router takes an IP from for example a modem, and give it's own IP to whatever computers are connected to, as simple as that.

How do I connect cable modem to cisco 3560 switch and configure it?

The cable modem will need to go through a router because it needs a NAT and PAT translation table, connecting the cable modem direct would lose the ability to get to the internet.

How to connect to the internet and our system??

What I understood from your inputs is You want internet on multiple connected systems.

You need a router with NAT ( Network Address translation) option connected to your broadband connection and from the router you can connect a 8 port switch and to that 8 port switch can connect multiple systems . All systems can access internet.

How to connect netgear fs108 to cable modem

leeb..... switches cannot be connected to the Cable modem.... because NAT will not be enabled in cable modem....so there wont be any DHCP server present in the cable modem....
Nat will be enabled only in DSL modem like AT&T verizon etc....So DHCP server will be present inside DSL modem...that is the reason why switches can be connected only to the DSL modem....
With NAT enabled modem, switch will work as a switch.... With NAT disabled modem, switch will work as a hub.... This is the difference....
Any doubts further ? please clarify with me.... I am ready to help you....

Router no connecting to the internet

You need to configure NAT on the router to permit the entire LAN to access internet

Example.
LAN Segnment is 192.168.1.0/24

1. Create an access-list to identify the local segment

2. Configure the Nat interfaces properly (NAT-INSIDE, NAT-OUTSIDE)

3. do the NAT configuration

i.e ip nat inside source list (ACLNUMBER) .....

Siements 5890 router

When you say HQ is that outside on the wan port trying to ping the Lan port?
Sometimes the router itself will respond to a ping but will not pass ping requests thru as the internal firewall can never be fully shutoff unless you are running your cisco switch as a DMZ
also are you connecting your other pc's to the cisco or to the 5890.
Instead of shutting off the firewall completely try enabling bridge mode and give your cisco the outside IP addy.
