Question about Mozilla Firefox

404 errors are not the browsers fault. It's a response from the server saying it doesn't have a clue what web page you are looking for.
Imagine you have a book and you read the index, you get the page description and page number, but when you get to the page you find somebody has ripped it out of the book. In this case the book would issue a 404 error. (What you are looking for doesn't exist!).
This happens all the time on the Internet as it is a dynamic living reference library. People move things around delete pages whole websites can vanish and when that happens and you try to access it you will get a 404 error page not found.

The web site hosting server will typically generate "404 - Not Found" web page, when users attempts to follow a broken or dead link, hence the 404 error is one of the most recognizable errors users can find on the web.
A 404 error should not be confused with "server not found" or similar errors, in which a connection to the destination server could not be made at all. A 404 error indicates that the requested resource may be available again in the future; however, the fact does not guarantee the same content.
I hope this helps
