All interior lights and trunk light will not come on.

There is a fuse for these. Fuse good and has power to it. Look at replacing the light/dimmer switch. If the fuse is good, you need to check for power at the switch plug. Could be a bad wire.. Power or ground.

Rear fog lights don't come on but switch seems ok

Hi Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

First you'll need to see what you are loosing at the fog light itself. Is it loosing power are ground. If you do not have power at the light then move to the switch and see if you are getting power to the switch. If your getting power to the switch then check power coming out of the switch on the other side. If power is coming out of the switch then its either the power wire going from the switch to the light OR the light itself is bad. If you do not have power to the switch then check all the fuses and relays. If you do not have ground to the light then apply ground with a wire running from the battery ground and if the light works, you'll need to trace the ground to see if there's a connector between it and the main ground. You'll need a wiring diagram of the vehicle for this step. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website at:

Can I first connect the main power coming in to the light out to the combination switch for two different lights

the short answer is yes. If power comes into the light box then split the power (black wire) when it goes down to the switch box.

Turn on ignition and no power to ignition switch or insterment panal but have head and tail lights batttery good

First check if the ignition switch is getting power-either through a maxi fuse in your under hood fuse/relay box, or a fusible link coming from a battery source.

Can't shift out of park, and brake lights want come on

Check your brake light switch for power to and from if no power to it check your fuses and related wiring. If you have power to it check for power coming out while holding down the brake pedal. If no power coming out replace the switch. If power coming out check your ground and related wiring for open/broken

My right rear fog light does not work, any ideas why? the other lights work fine, and its not the light bulb

check for power at the light, if no power and fuse ok check for power to switch and power coming out of switch when switched on if there is power to switch but no power out from switch when switched on, switch is faulty, if there is power from switch, wire is broken between switch an fog light

When I turn headlights on none of the dash lights come on,when sliding on dimer switch nothing happeneds, when putting power to the back of dash lights, lights will come on with tester

DId you just install something, if you install something like a radio, you probably or someone probably messes with a the illumination wire and too much power is going there, first find the wire, then change the fuse..........

I'm replacing a single pole light switch with a timer switch and the timer switch comes with a hot (Black) and a Load (Red) as well as the netural (White). My question is how to wire it up. Does the white...

It all depends on how the light on the pole is wired. The switch you have is meant to interrupt the power between the circuit breaker and the light, just like the switch does now. The new switch uses power to run itself, so you need an additional wire. Usually the lights on a pole have the power coming in on top, and a wire coming down for the switch - black and white. Lets say there was no switch - on top of the pole there would be a black wire going to the hot, or center contact on the pole light, and the white wire would go to the ground, or outside of the bulb. If (BIG IF) things are wired like they are supposed to be, there will be a black wire (hot) coming in from the breaker, down the pole, instead of going to the light. The switch you have in place now interrupts the power so you can turn it off/on. Then when you turn the switch on, power goes up the white wire to the hot, or bottom of the bulb. Theoretically, there should be another black wire going back up to power the light once it leaves the switch. People normally use regular wire, which has a black and a white inside a plastic casing. So, bottom line - you need to run a red wire from the light to the new switch, hook the white wire up to the ground. So: power coming in on top goes down pole to new switch to black. Red wire hooks up to pole light where it is now white, goes down pole to red on switch. Old white wire gets unhooked from light on top, and hooked to common (ground) on top.

1973 p20 Chevy van brake light not working

Check your fuses and if you have power coming out of switch when it is depressed.if that is ok check to see if you have power and ground back at the brake light sockets.if power is coming out of switch but not back at lights, look for open in wires also the brake light wires run thru the turn signal switch you could have a faulty turn signal switch.
