It is possible the the disk is smudged, wash it with liquid soap gently cleaning the reflective area. after that dry it with napkin (not a paper towel (too rough , it might scratch it), and try again.
if that does not work, go the website, and download the driver directly the the XP pc. if it small enough, you can email it to yourself, and check that email on the XP machine, and download it from the attachment.
