First make sure that computer is getting power, check that AC cable is connected and led light is on behind the computer. Remove the cable for a while, then but it back in. Push down the power button for 10 seconds. Then try to start the computer.

I had same problem with my aspire 6920.Tried power reset didn't work. Tried replacing memory chips,No go . Pulled rest of my hair out, still nothing . Then I checked memory chips again and noticed that the inner chip was not seating correctly due to a design flaw in the retainers. Gave both retainers a gental tweak, reset chips. And most importantly Disconnected CMOS Battery and held power button in for 1 min. Plugged everything back in and Bingo... Fired right up >>>And to the comment about plugging in the HD ....Mine fired up with out it ..

1/ Take a close look at the display in bright light; can you see anything there? (If so then the CCFL (or its power supply) needs replacing on the display
2/ hook up an external monitor and see if that works (or at least if the light stays green on the monitor)
3/ Any boot beep? any "Windows sound"?
4/ try removing the battery and (using only external power) see if it starts.
4/ remove the battery AND the external supply, hold the power switch in at least 30 seconds. Hoojk it up again, try it.
