I start my laptop I got on 5-4-09 and it goes straight to a black screen that says ASUS and in the right corner bottom intel and I cant do anything. I tried pressin f8 while it was starting but that didnt matter. ASUS model x83v
This just happened to me today. My notebook is the same model. I was logging into a game and all of a sudden it blue screened. After that every time I restarted it would go to the Asus logo screen (I think that's what is referred to as the splash screen but could be wrong). No keys worked. Nothing I could do. So, I called Asus and they had me unplug the power, take out the battery and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Now it's fine. Apparently it just needed to be reset. I hope that helps. Good luck.

If they are dead pixels, and there is nothing you can do. Get it replaced. If it is a stuck pixel, then you can gently rub it or wait till is unfreezes. I would contact ASUS or vendor being that it's new.
restart your computer and keep hitting "F8" over and over and over until a black screen comes up with a list of options of how to start windows. pick the one that says "safe mode with networking" go to control panel, then user accounts, then delete the password, then restart your computer and see if everything goes back to normal. If so, then go back to user accounts and make a new password and then restart, and see if everything works ok...my guess is that it will. Sometimes it's just weird that way...let me know what happens
sounds like your boot record on hard drive is bad or hard drive turn on computer and hit like f10 or f12 it will tell you right after asus screen what key to hit for restore, if this doesn,t work hard drive is bad. hope this was helpful
Does it come up with any warning messages in POST? if not try removing all unnecessary components, eg all cards except for video, use only one stick of ram in the last DIMM slot and all usb cables from the back except for keyboard and mouse(if usb). Boot it up then if it goes right through switch off and add a component then try again, use this process until it stops responding, then repost what caused it to stop. Otherwise if removing all those components didn't make it respond properly try updating your bios, on your motherboard it has the Asus EZ flash utility so you can do this straight from the bios screen, all the instructions and software you need can be found here
