Asus is only the motherboard maker. I need to know what brand the laptop is. But anyway, here's my take on it. First is it under warranty? Should be if you just bought it. Second, try hitting delete,f1, or f12 & see if you can access the bios or boot menu. If you can get into bios, then check all the hardware to see if it shows up. You should see the hard drive, hopefully, the ram & it's specs, the video(type & ram). If all is good, which I doubt, then try re-installing the operating system by using the supplied disks that came with the laptop. You can do this by going to the boot menu using ,usually f12, or in the bios options them selves under "boot menu",select boot from cdrom or dvd or if it wasn't selected, the hard drive. Save & exit, usually f10 or it will ask you if you want to save & exit. Now, if the hard drive wasn't selected by default, that's probably the problem, once you select it & save it should reboot & work fine. If not, go back into the boot menu & select the cdrom or dvd drive, make sure the install disk is in the right drive, save, exit & reboot. Follow the on screen instructions to re-install the operating system. You will need the cd key for the operating system. Btw,f8 only works for windows operating systems,so if there's nothing on the hard drive,well... you gotta buy it. Then the same steps apply, except you don't need to check everything in bios, just change the boot sequence, make sure the operating system disk is in the right drive & you're good to go. If you don't have the driver disk, you may need to use someone elses pc to access the internet to get them & burn them to disk. Installing those is a seperate question though, lol Just ask again! Good luck & peace!
