Question about Video Cameras
You can only record on the onboard memory, right ? or do you have an SD car reader on it ?
if it is onboard memory, then it might be dead ; maybe you could consider reseting the device to it's default config, or flash it's bios file...
I had an HG10 Canon HD camcorder, and one day the picture function died : couldn't record on the SD card and all pics in the DCIM folders were damaged/unreadable (even with perfect video mode, the HG10 is in a closet now...)

SOURCE: flip ultra hd not charging
I had the same problem, but it seemed to be a bit more sporadic. I'd occasionally get the "Charging Paused - Check Battery Pack" error. The battery pack itself looks a bit strange, since the white plastic covers the bottom, right side and it seems that there is no possible way for the battery to make contact with the camera. However, I saw the following suggestion on another site (which the poster claimed came from Flip technical support), and this technique worked for me:
1) remove the battery pack from the camcorder
2) connect the camcorder to a powered USB port on your computer
3) when the "Connected" indicator comes on, insert the battery pack into the camcorder
4) safe eject your camcorder from your computer
5) reconnect your camcorder to your computer
6) the battery pack should now begin to charge within the camcorder

I just had this problem: I turned it on, started to record a video, but it hung up on frame #1, with the record red light stuck on. And I couldn't do any of the following: restart the recording, play already recorded videos, turn it off, connect to PC.
I removed the battery for about 30 seconds, then replaced it. my UltraHD flip works great now.

Remove the battery. Connect the camcorder to the computer's USB port. The computer will show the autostart menu or give a beep. Insert the battery now. Use the 'Safely Remove Hardware' option, stop the device and remove the Camcorder from the Computer. Close the battery compartment. Bingo! The device works :-)
