Wickes 102 combi boiler constantly loosing water pressure

It sounds like your thermostat could be the problem. Have you noticed the boiler cutting off at all, or does it run continuously until it goes out on low water?

You stated, "when boiler is on", so I am wondering how you get the boiler on. If your boiler is controlled by a thermostat, you need to check it for a cold draft possibly from behind the thermostat in the wall where the wires come through. The thermostat should never be on an outside wall. The thermostat could be defective.

An aquastat can also control your boiler. If you have an aquastat, check the setting, typically 175 - 180 degrees. You should also have a "high limit" which should be set at 210 - 220. Some people run that high side limit higher; not a good idea - defeats the purpose. If the aquastat is set too high, the boiler will operate too hot and the problem you have will occur.

"pressure rises and pressure relief valve opens" This could mean that your pressure switch is prematurely venting. Check boiler temperature to see exactly at what temperature the T&P valve purges. If it blows off below the high side setting, either adjust or replace. The T&P valves are usually not adjustable. That blow off temperature is stamped on the head of the valve. So, if it discharges too soon, replace it.

Have you actually seen evidence thgat the T&P valve is opening? You may have a bad bladder in your expansion tank and your system may have air in it. Your boiler should have 12 psi when cold and 20 - 22 psi when operating. Check your boiler pressure guage.

"
this eventually drops below the minimum operating pressure" Technically, there is set point for a NO MINIMUM OPERATING PRESSURE. That is a function of the amount of water in the boiler. If the T&P is blowing off, it will vent water from the boiler and the boiler pressure will go down. There is a minimum operating TEMPERATURE.

Your boiler could be low on water. You will have to manually fill the boiler. Be careful of thermal shock to the boiler. Feel the piping, and fill only when the circulator is running. Make sure the water is not going directly into the boiler. The supply water should go into the circulating supply side which feeds the radiators, radiant floor, or base board circuits.

All this will adversely affect your hot water. The heat exchanger for the potable hot water may have scale build up in it. Using the hot water keeps the boiler running, and a scaled heat exchanger will give you cooler hot water and the boiler keeps running. If this is a problem, you will need to replace the heat exchanger. A better idea is to not use the boiler for your domestic hot water. Why run the boiler in the summer?

The boiler stopped twice during a week. The reset button was pressed whenever to start the boiler again(twice during a week). Is it abnormal? Does the reset button need to be replaced?

Good Question!-- Let's see if we can figure this out--

What kind of fuel are we talking about? - Gas or Oil?

Any clue as to WHY the boiler stops?--
Can you see a water level, or a temperature or a pressure setting/ gauge?
Tell us what some of these readings are--

If it is gas-- how does ignition take place?-- Spark, or ignitor ignition?

Where is the Reset button?-- is it on the burner control-- or the water level control?

Tell us more--

I HAVE A WATER ONLY BOILER MODEL WR11E IT IS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD AND THE PROBLEM IS THE WATER IS ONLY LUKE WARM AND NOT HOT AS IT WAS BEFORE

Turn the boiler off. Connect a garden hose to the drain bib. Shut the water supply valve off.
Open the drain bib and drain boiler. Close drain bib and open supply valve.
When boiler is full, go to the farthest faucet and open the hot water and let run.
Go back to supply valve and turn off and on a couple of times rapidly this will "bounce" sediment loose.
Repeat above twice.

Lack of hot water, the boiler fires up you can hear the burner noise increasing and after a few seconds the noise starts to decrease and then then it justs repeats the process seems to be the same with...

Hello
Possible you have a bad hot water control or low water cut off is going bad.Sounds like a control problem, thing is there are 3 or 4 different possibilties.

If this is stopping the gas flow then you need to have the boiler looked at by a service person.

Boiler cuts off after abt 20 secs of igniting, hot water goes cold then reignites ,hot water for 15-20 secs then repeat goes cold, burner goes off then rignites...ect was told ntc thermister problem but...

Yes usually it is indeed the thermostat, or Thermistor, all part of the control circuit. You did not indicate what type of setup you have. I suggest you Google for a thing called a service manual. This will aid in diagnosis, and repair of your system.

Vaillant boiler - heating OK, but no hot water.

Most likey problem is the diverter valve, not energising fully. This in turn will not move the little plastic lever arm that actuates the microswitch on the side, sending the signal to ignite.

You can buy a diaghram kit from most local plumb centres, you need to replace the diaghram and seals, don't forget the silicon grease to ensure the plunger doesnt stick. Kits less than a tenner.

You should have noticed before it stopped working completely the water had reduced in temperature before the weeks it failed.

To make sure it is a diverter valve fault, depress the microswitch if you can, when the hot water is flowing and hey presto the demand for hot water light should shine.

Hi,i have a vaillant turbomax combi boiler, the radiator side is working well but when running hot tap the boiler kicks in for about 5 seconds ,hot water starts to flow then boiler cuts out, water runs cold...

Which turbomax, as there a two different models. The more modern one, with the brass CPL diverter valve, located at the front left of the boiler, was very prone sticking & jamming, this would restrict flow through the hot water circuit in the boiler, and cause cycling. Vaillant actually modified the diverter. You can identify, if it is the old type, as there is a very small hole in the middle of the diverter on the old ones, probable no more than 1mm-2mm wide. The modfied one, is much bigger approx 5mm wide. If old type, replace as this usally sorts the problem
