What causes leak between filter and filter housing on kenmore elite model 40141003010.

Hello Emile;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I assume your changed the below component:

25693704-zbtre13rzitqz5mqvrpod1im-1-0.jpg At the ends of the plastic tubing are plastic push pull connectors. If the tubing is not properly seated and locked into the connector you will have a leak.
You may also have a crack in the connecting tubing from the water tank.
When you use your water dispenser, the water dispenser solenoid valve allows 65 PSI water pressure into the plastic tubing line, where if you have a bad connector or a crack in the line will cause a leak.
The is a plastic cap on the top of the above component.
1.) Put your fingers behind the above component where the tubing goes into the plastic mounting head. More often than not you can get bad parts
2.) Have someone push the water dispenser lever. Observe if water is running down the plastic tubing or if your fingers are getting wet.

I have a kenmore coldspot model 106.53532300 and the water will not dispense from the door the icemaker is working just can't get water from the door...really miss it! Can anyone tell me what to do?!...

Hello Ray;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Ok, It may have been the water bottle. But, you have an old unit.
So, lets check it out once more.

1.) After time, from the heat, the plastic tubing for both your water lines to the water dispenser and ice maker will dry rot and crack.
Check: Pull your unit out. Have someone draw a glass of water from the water dispenser, while observing in the back both the water supply valve and the larger plastic tubing going to the water dispenser. Is there a leak when pressurized?
2.) Wait for when your ice maker fills and observe the smaller plastic tubing. Does it leak under pressure.
kenmore-coldspot-model-106-53532300-q5zw2lslmquh13tixvlr3ryr-3-0.jpg Part Number: Substitution: 4387492 Cost: $10.00

3.) Drain Pan - This too will crack over time do to heat. Pull your unit out so you can get behind it. Remove the lower back cover.. There are about 8 screws easily removed. Observe the drain tube from the under body of your refrigerator and the black drain pan where it empties. Observe around the drain pan. Are there and brown or dark stains on the floor? If so, then you have a cracked drain pan.
Repair: Unplug the refrigerator. The compressor and surrounding copper tubing prevent you from replacing the pan. When I was in the field, I would take duct tape and seal the cracked area. Then, I would cover the duct tape and surrounding area with a high temp silicone adhesive.

I have gsc23KSTA and water are always on the bottom of the dispenser. Any suggestions?

Hello Joe;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician. I live in Baltimore, Maryland, USA., so the units will be in English not Metric.

There are several areas that need to be checked:

1.) In the top of the dispenser behind the frame your may have a drip proof tube. This is about a 1/4" diameter plastic tube with a bulb to collect drips. Sometimes the bulb cracks and leaks. This tube is replaceable, but should only be replaced by a skilled technician.

2.) OK, lets assume this is not the problem. So, lets look at the water dispenser solenoid valve. The spool in the valve collects calcium or particles from the water supply and does not completely seat, or the valve screen becomes plugged and you do not have enough water pressure to close the valve. This valve is behind the unit. After removing the lower back cover you will see two solenoid valves. The valve with the smaller plastic tubing feeds your ice maker, and the valve with the larger diameter plastic tube is your water dispenser water line. This you can replace your self if you are handy.

3.) You may have lost line pressure. It is not uncommon for the water shut off valve to deteriorate. The valve seat can become clogged restricting the supply water pressure. You need at least 60 PSI (Pounds Per Square Inch) to seat the valve.

Now, where is the problem?

If you have small ice cubes and a slow water flow you need to replace the water supply shut off valve.

If your ice cubes are normal size you do not have a water shut off valve problem and need to replace the water solenoid valve. If you are handy you can do this yourself.

This is based on a assumption you do not have a leak at the water bulb area on your plastic fill tube.

Leaking water on floor

Look for:
(1) Condensate drip pan under the refrigerator (catches & evaporates water from defrost cycles) may be out of place or leaking.
(2) Drip Tray under water/ice dispenser may be overflowing (drain may be clogged, if so equipped).
(3) Leaking water supply line (to ice maker/water dispenser): Check:
(a) at inlet-valve fitting(s) and along all tubing going to ice maker & water dispenser,
(b) at water filter connections (check inlet & outlet fittings and any gaskets where filter is inserted,

>>> Tubing can develop a pinhole leak or crack if bent too sharply, pinched when unit is pushed back against a wall, contacting hot or vibrating parts (e.g. compressor or fan),
>>> If connections are the "push-on" style they can leak if the tubing is not cut off squarely - with no burrs, pinched, cracked or distorted ends (use a sharp knife or tubing cutter)
>>> If compression fittings are used with polyethylene tubing a ferrule must be inserted into the tubing end to prevent the tubing from distorting as the nut is tightened; also over-tightening nuts or reusing old compression rings under the nuts may cause leaks.

* Remember to vacuum out the dust bunnies from the fan, condenser coils and all air vents while you're poking around under the fridge!

Two possibilities:
1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.

Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.

Water does not stop pouring from water/ice dispenser. Door-to-door GE Profile Refrigerator Model TFX22PPDACC. How to troubleshoot the problem? Or what part need to be replaced?

With the water running tube/pipe is cracked in between or its got loose from its fitting.First inspect the line for this problem.The tube from which water passes, one end is connected to the water valve at the back base of refrigerator.And then from valve two tube runs.One tube is for water dispenser and another tube is for ice chamber filling.Follow that tube from back of the refrigerator.The water dispenser tube That passes through the freezer door also.And the ice maker tube.That connects to the back of ice maker tray.The water fills in the tray.See if that tube is got loose and its not throwing water out instead of ice maker tray.Many a times this happens.--- May be you need to remove the ice maker to get exact location for tube setting and position.----------- But if tubes from water and ice dispenser sections are fitted properly and then there can be crack in the tube.------------But if tubes checked out ok then other possibility can be faulty water fill grommet.------- The grommet is cracked.And that is causing the leak.--------- Go to the back of the unit and remove the cover at the lower right of the unit. This is where the water line goes into your unit. Remove the water line at the solinoid that goes to your ice maker . This will allow you enough slack to remove the old water fill tube and replace it with the new one.
You need to push the white retainers in to release the tubeing from the solenoids.
------------
The part you need is called fill tube grommet.It has to be removed and replaced.The tube is connected to the grommet. Click this link below for more help:---http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-remove-ice-maker-fill-tube-from.html
------------ The other possibility for this leak, is water valve.The water valve close and open.When its open, it lets water to the tube.When it closes it stops water.But if the valve is not closing then it will let the water to enter non stop, slowly --- slowly the inside tube getw over filled and then starts leaking.------------ The water valve is not required as per the problem.But if after doing all the repairing, still the same problem, noticed then water valve is required.Because is water valve is not closing properly, then it leaks some water, (drop by drop) and this can cause water to collect in the grommet and this gets formed into ice and the same leaking repeats.---------but at present dont buy water valve.Just keep an eye on this same problem.sometimes leaking will start after few days.In that case also replace water vale.------- Now for other parts, that are extension hose,icemaker tube and clamp.Out of this you will require clamps, sometimes while removing old tube the clamp gets cracked.you can buy this.The extension hose is required if the tube is getting short or actual hose is cracked in between.i dont think you will require extension hose at present.And for ice maker tube.This tube can also be cracked and cause leak.this tubes by time gets bit swollen and loose its grip.Its actually not required.But if you still replace it, that it will be good.--------so you can order clamp and icemaker tube with the grommet part.----------- The parts which you want to order, this is direct link for parts:-- 1. Dual Inlet Water Valve------------ (http://www.partselect.com/PS901314-GE-WR57X10051-Dual-Inlet-Water-Valve.htm)
2. Icemaker Water Line ----------
(http://www.partselect.com/PS299643-GE-WR2X9245-Icemaker-Water-Line.htm)
3. Icemaker Fill Hose Extension ----------

A fill tube clamp for the fill tube grommet----------------
