My whirlpool dryer comes on and runs good but it wont get hot can you tell me whats the problem

Hello there and welcome to fixya there are several things that could make this dryer not heat up
Here are the most common things

Thermal Fuse

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, but the drum
turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer
from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is
blown, it will have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dryer.

Help me find my model number

Gas Valve Solenoid

The gas valve has two or more electric
solenoids which open the valve to let the gas flow into the burner
assembly. If the dryer doesn\'t heat one or more of the solenoids may be
defective. If the igniter glows for 90 seconds but the burner flame
doesn\'t light, replace these coils as a set.

Dryer Igniter

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the igniter might
be burned out. Check the igniter for continuity with an ohm meter. Dryer
igniters burn out over time, similar to a light bulb.

Heating Element

The heating element on an electric dryer can
burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element should be
checked for continuity. The heating element cannot be repaired and must
be replaced if defective.

Heating Element Assembly

the heating element assembly on an electric
dryer can burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element
assembly should be checked for continuity. The heating element assembly
cannot be repaired and must be replaced if defective.

Flame Sensor

Gas dryers have a flame sensor to detect the
heat given off by the flame. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the flame sensor
might be defective. Check the flame sensor for continuity. This is not
as common as a burned out igniter or thermal fuse.

High Limit Thermostat

Although not common, if the dryer doesn\'t
heat the high limit thermostat can be defective. It can be checked for
continuity. If the thermostat is "open" the dryer doesn\'t heat.

Cycling Thermostat

The cycling thermostat regulates the
temperature of the air in the dryer. If the dryer doesn\'t heat it may be
caused by a defective cycling thermostat. This is not common.

Main Control Board

The main control board is normally not at
fault when the dryer doesn\'t heat. Check all of the other components in
this troubleshooting guide before replacing the main control board. The
main control board cannot be tested easily and must be replaced if it is
defective.

Timer
The timer is normally not at fault if the
dryer doesn\'t heat. In many situations where timers are replaced they
end up being returned. Check all of the more common components in this
troubleshooting guide before replacing the timer

My dryer starts, runs a few minutes, doesn't heat up and shuts itself off

check your sensors on the heater unit, there are two or more, simply us a meter and make sure power is on both sides of the sensor, if not then that specific sensor is bad and you should replace it, pull the sensor and tie the two wire together to see if it will heat, if it does replace the sensor they are cheap and will keep you from burning down the house

Dyrer wont run lights come on but wont run

If the belt is not off, it may be a loose wire to the sensor that switches the dryer off when the belt is off or broken. Mine had that problem. If that doesn't work you will have to replace the tension pulley sensor.

The sensing light is on and dryer will not start

Try shutting the unit off at the breaker box for your home. Leave it off 1 to 3 minutes then turn it back on. This will restart the board. If this doesn't fix it then the moisture sensor may be bad.

I've used my machine twice this morning but now it clicks on to lock the door but the red light doesn't come on and machine doesn't start the cycle. Any ideas?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

there is a problem either with the door lock or probably the 'door locked' sensor requiring a service call, sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!

The drying time goes for normal mode start at 34 minutes to 30 minutes left then drops to 20 minutes then goes down to 17 minutes left then suddenly it stops and says complete. so the normal mode doesn't...

Yes, I believe the "normal" setting is part of the sensor dry. So, if the sensors, bars located on the inside of basket, do not detect moisture, the time will decrease and eventually stop. Locate the sensor bars, get some scotchbrite pad, and lightly clean the two metallic "bars" on the inside of drum. I find alot of buildup from dryer sheets inhibiting the conductivity of the sensors. I would start from there. If that doesn't fix it then you may need to call for service. hope this helps.
